October Springfield Manor Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Allyson + Collin

Allyson and Collin met in preschool in Thurmont. “Our parents have embarrassing class videos to prove it. Following preschool, we went to school together up through high school graduation. In high school, we became the best of friends and were extremely close, and let it be at that. We both went our own ways for college and stayed true to our friendship and each other all throughout. After college graduation, our paths led us back together.”

The couple got engaged in 2021 while on vacation with friends and family in Jamaica. “Collin had planned a date night one night for just the two of us. Collin got down on one knee during a private candle-lit beach dinner at sunset in Jamaica. He hired resort photographers who acted as if the photos were a part of dinner. I turned around per the photographer’s request, and he was on his knee. Of course, I said ‘yes’ before he even got out all the words he wanted to say.”

182 guests, including a 17-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their October nuptials at Springfield Manor. “Our ceremony was outside using their ceremony space. A beautiful white arbor, with the Catoctin Mountains behind us for the guest to see- simply breathtaking.”

Collin and Allyson chose a formal and elegant feel for their wedding, incorporating a color palette of hunter green, navy blue, and white. The bridesmaids wore floor-length dresses, and the groom and groomsmen wore navy suits. The linens were navy blue, with simple white roses and flowers, greenery, and white candles rounding out their decor. “We had a sparkler send-off and arrangements for a private escort vehicle to a separate hotel for just the two of us. We ended up telling our driver to follow the buses and take us to the hotel our guests were at to continue the party with them.”

The couple lives in Baltimore, where Allyson is a kindergarten teacher, and Collin is a middle school math teacher and a South River High School wrestling coach.

Green, White and Gold July Catoctin Hall Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Katie and Wesley

Wesley and Kaitlan met on Match.com in 2014. “Wes sent me a message first and commented on how much we had in common. After we had talked for a short time online, we agreed to have our first date at House of Kobe in Hagerstown. Wes had never had sushi before and wanted to try it. We talked for hours and quickly decided to go out again for a second date.”

The couple got engaged in December 2019. “Wes planned it with my family and got them all in on it on Christmas Day. We had tickets to go see the Christmas light show at Nationals Stadium in DC. He asked me to take a picture at the center of the light show by the big tree and then proposed.”

60 guests, including a 13-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their July nuptials. “Wes and I knew we wanted a short ceremony so we could spend more time with family and friends at our cocktail hour. I had both my mom and dad walk me down the aisle, and honestly, that’s one of my favorite choices I made. They’re both incredibly special to me, so having those pictures of both of them walking me is something I will treasure forever.”

For their decor, the couple chose sage green, white, and gold. “We wanted it to feel intimate and elegant without being overly formal. I love a good formal moment, but both Wes and I love to dance and have a good time, so we wanted a balance of formal during the ceremony and dinner and then laid back and fun during reception party time. The party that we had on the dance floor was epic, and all of us had the time of our lives dancing and enjoying each other’s company. We danced for three straight hours.”

Katie is an FCPS elementary school teacher, and Wesley is a retirement account consultant. They currently reside in Hagerstown.

Shelby and Martin met in 2020 on Tinder. “After a week of talking via text messages, we met in Fells Point, Baltimore, on a blistery January evening and had a 7-hour first date. About mid-way through our date, we simultaneously deleted our Tinder profiles, and we have been together ever since.”

The couple got engaged in 2021 on a ski trip with friends in Colorado. “Martin proposed on top of a 12,000-foot mountain. We decided to get married in the winter of the following year so that we could go skiing for our anniversaries.”

85 guests, including a two-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their winter wedding. “We had a beautiful ceremony outside on the Terrace. We had hoped for snow, but it ended up being a gorgeous, sunny February afternoon. Our flower girl was our adorable 2-year-old Goddaughter and our dogs of honor, Lily & Pepper.”

In lieu of favors, Shelby and Martin made donations to the Senior Dog Sanctuary of Maryland and The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The couple chose a formal and romantic feel for their wedding decor. “Our wedding colors were blush, ivory, and sage. We went with lots of greenery and White O’Hara roses which have a blush hue to them. We also had a sparkler send-off which was a lot of fun and made for some great photos. We offered late-night snacks to our guests, which was a huge hit: soft pretzels, 7-layer taco dip, and an ice cream crepe station.”

“Our favorite part of the wedding was being able to have everyone together at one location after a long two years of being apart. We danced, ate, drank, laughed, and had an amazing time. Having our two dogs there made our day complete.”

Shelby is a manager for an engineering company, and Martin is a senior system engineer. They currently reside in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Sarah and Joey met in 2015, during their freshman year at McDaniel College. “We took Spanish 101, and our final exam that semester was to tango with a partner. We got partnered up, and the rest is history.”

75 guests, including a 12-person wedding party, celebrated their outdoor May wedding at Strong Mansion. “We chose this location because it allowed guests to see the true beauty of the mountain and surrounding areas. We wrote our own vows, and it is a memory we both will cherish for the rest of our lives.”

The wedding color palette focused on navy blue tones with cream accents. “We wanted the perfect twist of formal and cocktail. The string quartet added the formal ambiance we were after, while small details made the day more laid-back. I think the most special thing on our day was having our dog, Ollie, there. Ollie had a floral collar and walked down the aisle for the wedding. She stayed for cocktail hour, too, where she was the official greeter for all of our guests.”

“My wedding band is modeled off of my grandmother’s wedding ring. The gold base of my ring is repurposed family gold from generations prior. Joey’s band is made of repurposed family gold from his family, too. Our wedding took place in May because both sets of parents were married in May, and we wanted to share this month with our greatest role models.”

Sarah works for Frederick Health, and Joey is the owner of Creek Vintage, where he re-sells vintage memorabilia and clothing. They currently reside in Frederick.

Bradley and Lauren met in April of 2018 when they were introduced by close friends and hit it off immediately. “Our mutual love of art and great food started a conversation between us that has yet to end and we sincerely can’t imagine life without the other. After looking for love for so long, and wanting and waiting for the right one, we couldn’t be more grateful to have found each other.”

The couple got engaged in September of 2020. “I have four older brothers, so before Brad proposed, he drove up to my parents’ house to ask my father for my hand in marriage, and then called all four of my brothers to get their blessing as well. Later that evening, before dinner, he got down on one knee and proposed in our living room. It was perfect.”

Eighty-five guests, including a seven-person wedding party, celebrated their October 2021 wedding in Thurmont, at Mountain Memories at Thorpewood. “We were so grateful that so many came to celebrate with us. I think the magic of the whole day left an impression on both of us that we weren’t expecting. It was a simple outdoor ceremony that felt like a real-life fairytale.”

Lauren and Bradley chose a decor theme of “understated elegance” which included a color palette of deep autumn tones. ”After the ceremony, we ate, drank, and danced merrily. COVID postponed our wedding to a later date than we wanted but it turned out to be a blessing. The weather was perfect and we were able to be surrounded by friends and family so the wait was worth it.”

Lauren is an artist and Brad is a sustainable industrialist. They reside in Woodsboro.

Brian and LeeAnn met in 2019 on Tinder. “We hit it off immediately, discovering that we were both big fans of Gritty, the Philadelphia Flyers mascot. After exchanging a few messages online we decided to meet up at a bar in Old Town Alexandria for our first date. I was struck by how genuine and funny Brian was. We dated for a few months before making our relationship official.”

Brain proposed in September of 2020 after an evening full of references to milestones in their relationship. “The ring box had a light inside, and when I opened it LeeAnn was so distracted by the light that she missed my asking THE question, and I had to ask again. Thankfully, once she was paying attention, she said yes.”

125 guests, including a 12-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their October wedding at Musket Ridge. “LeeAnn helped make sure my late parents were included. She encouraged me to ask the pastor from the church my parents and I attended to officiate the wedding so we could have that connection to my mom and dad. The ceremony was phenomenal – he even incorporated Gritty into the ceremony.”

Brian surprised LeeAnn during the reception by putting framed photos of their cats, wearing bow ties that matched his, on the sweetheart table. “I loved having our boys there in spirit! In lieu of favors, we surprised our guests with an awesome fireworks show – seeing everyone’s surprise was one of my favorite moments of the night. As a nod to Brian’s Philly roots, we had a late-night soft pretzel bar. We had signature cocktails named for our two cats. We ended the night with a sparkler send-off.”

LeeAnn is an event manager and Brian is an accountant. They currently reside in Alexandria, Virginia.

Holiday-Themed Holly Hills December Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Lydia and Michael

Michael and Lydia met in 2015 through mutual friends. “One of my college friends was dating Michael’s best friend and she convinced me to head to their hometown from college and Michael was home visiting after a recent deployment. We texted on and off for a couple of months and then I got the courage to fly down to visit him in Texas and the rest was history.”

The couple got engaged on Christmas Day in 2019. “Our first apartment together was in Ellicott City and Michael had an idea of going back downtown to see it since the last flood. He let me lead the entire afternoon and I had no idea he was going to propose. We sat down to take a picture and then he popped the question. Our proposal was better than I could have ever imagined.”

Eighty guests, including an eleven-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their December 2021 wedding at Holly Hills Country Club. “Michael’s brother was our officiant so I was able to construct our entire ceremony and make it the way I wanted it to be. It was unique to be able to see my thoughts and words come to life.”

Lydia and Michael leaned into their December wedding and had a Christmas-centric wedding, using a red and green color palette for their decor. “Our centerpieces were wreaths and had glass cylinders filled with holly berries and snow and pinecones. The bridesmaids wore wine-colored dresses and the groomsmen’s vest and tie were wine-colored.”

“We postponed for almost an entire year but got legally married so we went into our wedding day almost a year after getting married however postponing was the best decision we made to have our real wedding. The entire day was perfect, from getting ready to our first look to the sparkler exit, I wish I could relive that day over and over again.”

Michael is a college savings representative and Lydia is a gymnastics coach. They reside in Westminster, Maryland.

Brooksley and Gage first met one another through their mothers. “Our moms met first through a mutual friend and hit it off instantly. Gage and I then met at Oakdale High School. Being in the same friend group the rest of high school and our parents hanging out made for us to spend a lot of time together. We went our separate ways for college until Gage ended up transferring to the University of Maryland where I was. We have been together ever since.”

The couple got engaged in February of 2019 while on vacation with their parents at Deep Creek Lake. “We took a snowy hike together, just the two of us, to Swallow Falls when Gage popped the question. I wasn’t expecting it at all. We were then joined shortly after by our families to celebrate with champagne by the waterfall. It was a beautiful and perfect day.”

Our officiants were Gage’s twin uncles, who also happen to be his godfathers. It was the perfect blend of serious, emotional, funny, and meaningful. It was full of laughter and lots of love.”

“The look of our wedding was elegant and classy but we were all about having a good time. Because our parents are such close friends, so many of the guests already knew each other and it was just one big party. After being locked up with COVID for so long, everyone just really needed a fun night out with family and friends. Gage and I felt so loved.”

Brooksley is a social studies teacher for FCPS and Gage is in the fire academy for the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department. They reside in Downtown Frederick.

Joseph and Holly met at a gymnastics club practice. “He was a part of the new boy’s team that came to my gym in the spring of 2011. We spent a lot of time together, in and outside of the gym. A year after we met, Joe asked me to be his girlfriend.”

The couple got engaged on a trip with friends to Nashville. “I insisted on learning to line dance so we all went to dinner one night at the Wild Horse Saloon. Turns out the best man helped Joe orchestrate the proposal with the line dancing instructor. After dinner, we joined the line dancing class where the instructor taught us a dance. We practiced it many times before the instructor made a last-minute change- that the men would down on one knee to end the dance. After some practice, we did the entire dance all the way through and at the end, I turned to Joe and he was down on one knee with a box in his hands and the biggest smile on his face.”

125 guests including a sixteen-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their May nuptials at Muset Ridge. “Our ceremony was held by the pergola at Musket Ridge in the pouring rain. We had a Plan B in case of weather but wanted to have our wedding as originally planned underneath the pergola and we are so happy we did. Our ceremony was an Interfaith wedding that highlighted the traditions of our different religions.”

Holly and Joseph chose a “Rustic Red White and Blue” theme for their wedding. “We knew we wanted navy as our wedding color after we went to three proms together- each time we wore navy. Joe was also born on the 4th of July and with our wedding being Memorial Day Weekend we knew red white and blue would be fitting.”

Holly is an Athletic Trainer at Shepherd University and Joe is an AED Consultant in Gaithersburg. The couple currently resides in Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia.

Josh and Alison met through a friend in 2012 while Alison was attending St. Vincent College. The couple got engaged at Sugarloaf Mountain and celebrated with a trip to Attaboy and Idiom, two breweries in Downtown Frederick.

Ninety-seven guests were in attendance, including a ten-person wedding party for their July 2021 wedding, which was postponed a year due to Covid-19. “We decided to postpone it a year and wanted to move it outside to make our guests feel more comfortable.”

The traditional Catholic ceremony was held at Saint Katharine Drexel, followed by a reception, at Holly Hills Country Club. “We decided to have our wedding in Frederick because it is where we call home and there are a lot of fun things to do here. Holly Hills stood out to us because of the beautiful views.”

The couple chose a color palette of navy and dusty rose for their laid-back wedding, as well as several nods to their hometown of Pittsburgh which included a traditional cookie table and Pittsburgh-themed corn hole board. They also had a sparkler exit to finish off their Independence Day weekend wedding.

Alison is a Spanish Teacher in Washington County and Josh works for the National Institute of Health. They currently reside in Frederick.

Arthur and Jacqueline first met in 2012 while out with friends in Baltimore. “We were both living in Baltimore at the time and met by complete happenstance one night in Fells Point. We have been in each other’s lives ever since that first meeting, and officially become a couple a few years later.”

Arthur proposed in May of 2019. “I got an email from one of my best friends invited us and a bunch of my college friends to a Jurassic Park themed escape room. Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies so I did not question for one minute why some of my friends would be excited to drive hours for an escape room. I had to take a dinosaur bone and put it into a little machine. The machine then spit out a slip of paper that said, ‘Jacqueline, will you marry me?’ I turned around and saw Arthur down on one knee.”

Forty guests, including a nine-person wedding party joined the couple poolside at Jacqueline’s childhood home in Ijamsville for their August 2020 nuptials. “Our ceremony was beautifully prepared by a close friend who performed the marriage. He interviewed some of our friends and family to gather information and wrote a lovely and heartfelt dedication to us as a couple.”

“Our original plan was a black-tie affair at a hotel in Baltimore. Suddenly we went from having our wedding fully planned to having no idea when we’d say our vows. We threw the entire backyard wedding together in about six weeks. Having something to look forward to after months of stress and loss was so refreshing, and our backyard wedding was more amazing than any ballroom.”

The couple chose a tropical theme for their backyard wedding. “We encouraged all of our guests to wear festive tropical attire and to bring bathing suits to enjoy the pool after the ceremony.”

Arthur is a facilities manager and Jacqueline is a marketing professional. They currently reside in Cabin John, Maryland.

Amber and David met twelve years ago at a salsa dance class in College Park, Maryland. “I was in graduate school and David was working on campus. I was considering switching to another dance class. He encouraged me to stay. His obvious interest in me, sweet face, and playful demeanor convinced me to stay. Throughout that first-semester dance class, David would always walk me to my car. After a month or so of playful flirtation, David took me on our first date.”

The couple spent nine years together before getting engaged. “We proposed to each other in Mount Hood forest in Oregon. We both picked out rings for each other and exchanged rings and vows at a beautiful lake overlooking Mount Hood at sunset.”

Amber and David’s October 2019 ceremony was held at the Pinewood Cathedral at Mountain Memories at Thorpewood. “There were Jewish elements to the ceremony, as David is Jewish, and as a couple, we have embraced some Jewish traditions. We were married under a chuppah where David’s grandfather’s prayer shawl was hung. Each member of our family played a special part in our wedding.”

The couple chose a “forest romance” theme for their wedding. “We wanted romantic muted colors that would complement the natural change in colors accompanying autumn. We used a fall color palette- there were deep purples, navy blues, forest greens, and burgundy. The men wore black suits with grey ties and had burgundy boutonnières.”

David is a design thinking consultant and owns his own business. Amber is an environmental scientist and owner of AIPCoLab. They currently reside in Portland, Oregon.

Kimberly and Kristyn met online as they both finished up their last semesters in college. “A year and a half later we moved down to North Carolina to pursue our law enforcement careers. We have now been together for over five years.”

Kristyn planned out a perfect proposal at a local Christmas tree farm. “I found a photographer in North Carolina who helped me plan our surprise engagement photoshoot. I knew if I told Kim to wear a nice outfit for something I had planned she would know something was up. Instead, I told her that I wanted to get professional pictures taken for a Christmas card that year. The photographer captured those moments that we will cherish for a lifetime. We knew we were not in a rush to get married. We enjoyed being engaged for an entire year before even starting to plan.”

120 guests were in attendance for their outdoor September 2019 nuptials, including a twelve-personal wedding party. “The wedding party was transported to our ceremony site by hayride after guests had already arrived. Koozies and beverages were stationed at the site for the ceremony. Both of our parents accompanied each of us as we walked down the aisle and Kim’s uncle officiated the ceremony.”

The couple chose navy and blush as their decor colors and implemented a rustic theme to complement their venue, Caboose Farm. “We incorporated sunflowers and wood accents. Our wedding had a semi-formal feel and utilized outdoor space for the ceremony.”

The wedding band, Pork Chops and Ham Hocks, were their good friends from Raleigh. “It was one of the best things about our wedding. They completely nailed the entertainment for the evening and learned several songs at our request. They performed our first dance live which was such a personal touch.”

Kimberly and Kristyn are both police officers with the Raleigh Police Department in North Carolina.

Kevin and Megan met in a high school library over 10 years ago. “When we sat across from each other, we had no idea that we would one day marry each other in front of our closest friends and family.”

Kevin proposed to Megan on a hike at the Monocacy Aqueduct with their dog, Max. “I didn’t know was that Max’s vest contained an engagement ring Kevin had picked out weeks before. We walked for a while and eventually stopped to take pictures as a family. Instead of setting a timer for our camera, Kevin pressed play and got the entire proposal on camera.”

75 guests attended their August nuptials, including a 12-personal wedding party. “A few raindrops fell as we read our vows, but no one remembers those drops. Everyone, however, remembers the teardrops falling from Kevin’s face – he was a little emotional. We were announced husband and wife, we kissed, and our niece made the entire crowd laugh by screaming, ‘runaway groom!’”

The couple chose burgundy and champagne for their wedding decor colors. “We wanted our guests to feel welcomed, but most importantly, we wanted our guests to feel safe because of COVID-19 concerns. This was a very important event for our families and many hours went into making the day possible.” The two left the venue via a sparkler send-off.

Megan is a counseling intern at FCPS and Kevin is a paralegal. They currently reside in Frederick.

Alex proposed after a concert at the Weinberg. “We went to our favorite local bar, Olde Towne, after the show. We were both tired but had a beer to end the night. When the tab came, an old matchbox was on top of the check. I was confused, but opened it and turned around and Alex was down on one knee, while karaoke was happening in the background. Alex was not expecting Karaoke that night, but it makes the story even better.”

One-hundred twenty-five guests were in attendance for the October 2019 outdoor wedding. “Our ceremony was on Carroll Creek. It was perfect for friends and family with the built-in seating and easy access, along with great views.”

The couple hosted a reception at Tenth Ward. “We didn’t have a theme- we used greenery and dark flowers and our own growlers from travels to breweries for centerpieces. We loved keeping everything downtown-we live downtown and spend the majority of our free time there.”

Alex is an attorney with the Public Defenders office and Morgan is a program analyst with NCI Frederick. The couple currently resides in Downtown Frederick.

Ryan and Katherine attended Linganore high school together but didn’t meet until after graduating, through mutual friends. “We have been together since 2011. We started dating our sophomore year in college.”

Ryan proposed during the Christmas season in 2017 with both of their families present. “It was perfect. He strung lights up on the back gate at his parent’s house that said ‘Will you marry me’ and had champagne on the table. I was in total shock.”

One hundred twenty-five guests attended their June 2019 nuptials, including a nine-person wedding party. “Our ceremony was short and sweet. A family friend of ours married us, and it was right in front of the pond. It was a beautiful day.”

The couple chose a coral and floral theme for their wedding decor. “Rene from Blossom and Basket and my mother really helped with the color scheme and rentals. Having the barn made it laid-back but also formal. We wanted everyone to have a good time and to be comfortable.”

The couple looked at several wedding venues. “We wanted a brewery that had more of a rustic feel, but they never could hold enough people. My mom heard of the venue we chose; it was very new at the time. It was the last one we looked at, and right when we got there, we both knew it was the one. We decided on a June wedding because we are summer people.”

Ryan is a digital signal processing engineer, and Katherine is a laboratory technician. The couple resides in Jefferson, Maryland.

Shannon originally “swiped left” on Stephen on the dating app Tinder, but Stephen didn’t give up and found Shannon on Facebook. “I shot him down because he was too short, but he ended up doing me a favor, so I had to meet him in person to say thank you. He ended up sweeping me off my feet and here we are.”

Stephen proposed while the couple was treasure hunting on the side of a mountain in Montana. “He pointed out an Altoids tin in the path and asks if I dropped it. I said, ‘no, I don’t like Altoids’ and I kicked the can. But, in case it was a hidden cache, I opened it. Inside was a butterfly drawn on a paper napkin with a ring inside. He dropped to one knee.”

138 guests helped the couple celebrate their June 2019 nuptials, including an eight-person wedding party at Stone Manor in Middletown.

“It was outside as the sky looked like it wanted to open up. My husband thought it would be fun to serenade me with the song Napoleon Dynamite’s brother sang at his wedding. I mentioned my deceased daughter and mother-in-law at one point and thunder rolled through the sky. It was as if they were cheering for us. The moment the ceremony was over we had a brief downpour.”

The wedding was semi-formal and had a fun twist with the addition of Avengers-meets-Fairytale details the couple included. The bride arranged her own flowers.

Kelly Crum and Jason Fry knew each other from a very young age- their families attended the same church. “I had been living in San Diego, but life took me back to the Pennsylvania town where we grew up. During that time, our paths had crossed a few times, but never in a setting where we could talk individually. We finally ‘met’ at a mutual friend’s surprise birthday party in November of 2017, got together for coffee a month later, and have been together ever since.”

The couple chose October 12th for their wedding day for sentimental reasons. “Kelly’s father passed away 12 years prior. We knew that our wedding day would be difficult with his absence, so we wanted to find a way to honor him. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on October 12, 2006. It was a day that changed the lives of her family forever. We wanted to make a new beginning.”

150 guests including five bridesmaids and five groomsmen helped the couple celebrate their ceremony at Fischer Chapel at Camp Nawakwa this past October. “The decorations were very simple. The chapel in the woods was picturesque and did not need a lot of decorations.”

Kelly and Jason chose plum, sage, and cream as the color palette for their wedding decor. “Our goal was a formal wedding in rustic settings.”

The dancing at the reception started with a Zumba routine and ended with guests surrounding the couple for the final song.

Kelly is a teacher and Jason is in sales. The couple resides in Walkersville.

My wedding ring is a custom ring based on the video game Kingdom Hearts. He proposed using a starfruit from the game that symbolizes being eternally bound with the one who shares it.”

The proposal came at a surprise party for Marissa’s mother. “While I was busy planning a birthday party, Brooks was planning to propose. It was a perfect opportunity since all of our family and friends were already there to celebrate. After reading a giant sign that read, ‘Marissa will you marry me?’ and seeing him down on one knee holding the most perfect ring, how could I say no?”

160 guests joined the couple at Musket Ridge Country Club last June, including nine bridesmaids and nine groomsmen. “We wanted it to be very personal. We had a close friend say a reading and Brooks’ former baseball coach was our officiant.”

The couple chose to have bright colors as part of their wedding decor to play up the summer season. “Our florist did an amazing job bringing in all the colors in our bouquets and arrangements. Along with the bright summer colors, we added accents of gold with votives, vases, and picture frames. We also had a late-night hot dog bar during the reception- it was a huge hit.”

The forecast for the wedding day in August called for thunderstorms. “We had been resigned to the likelihood that we would deal with some rain. However, we lucked out and ended up having a beautiful, sunny, wedding day.”

100 guests were in attendance for their outdoor wedding at Glen Ellen Farm, including four bridesmaids and three groomsmen. “Our ceremony was held by a pond. We decided to write our own vows, which ended up being a great decision–we felt it was an authentic way to celebrate our relationship. Our good friend and mentor, Pastor Chuck Garriott, officiated the ceremony.”

The couple chose a color palette of navy blue and purple for the decor. “We love music and our DJ gave us an opportunity to pick a sample set of songs that reflected our interests and tastes. We also ordered fun temporary tattoos with a picture of us from Etsy and they were such a hit! The vendor hand-sketches the tattoo based on a photograph. It was a silly favor, but it was a lot of fun and people loved it.”

The couple first eloped in Turks and Caicos then chose to have a secondary ceremony and reception for family and friends at Springfield Manor in Thurmont.

When discussing their favorite memories of the wedding Julie and Kyle mentioned their first dance. “One of the best moments was when we made our entrance to the venue and performed our dance, including the final lift just like in Dirty Dancing. Heather and Clint met at a game night through a mutual friend. “It started with him offering me one of his craft beers and ended with him giving me a foot rub. We have been together for 4 and a half years.”

Clint proposed on an anniversary trip to Vermont. “On the second morning of our trip, Clint proposed to me with breakfast in bed. He knew I did not want a public proposal, so this was perfect.”

We worked with our officiant to make sure everything we wanted to be said would be said and it turned out exactly how we wanted. The weather forecast was threatening thunderstorms in the afternoon so we moved the ceremony to under the pavilion, just to be on the safe side. Fortunately, it did not rain, so even though the ceremony was under the pavilion, we were able to take pictures outside overlooking the vineyards and in between the vines. The overcast was perfect for our pictures and we even got a beautiful sunset.”

The couple chose a color palette of light pinks with white and burgundy accents for their wedding decor. “Our day was unique because we incorporated music from our favorite films throughout the day – the girls and I walked down the aisle to Lord of the Rings music, our recessional was Throne Room from Star Wars – and we were announced during the reception by walking under Light Sabers given to the wedding party.”

Clint is a chemistry and physics high school teacher. Heather is a full-time pharmacy school student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. They currently reside in Frederick.

Navy Blue and Lilac April Stone Manor Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Jennifer + Patrick

Patrick and Jennifer planned a trip to Savannah, Georgia for their 3rd anniversary. “We explored the city, walked around and rode bikes. Later in the evening, Patrick surprised me with a horse-drawn carriage ride around town. The carriage stopped at one of the many squares in the city, and we got out for a closer look and that is when Patrick proposed. We returned to our carriage and went for a celebratory dinner,” shared Jennifer.

125 guests were in attendance for their wedding ceremony, including six bridesmaids, six groomsmen, and two ushers at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. “Seeing each other at the church for the first time was a great moment.”

The couple chose a color palette of navy blue and lilac for their decor for their reception, held at Stone Manor Country Club. The bride incorporated her something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue into her bouquet, including pins from her grandfather’s Army uniform, her grandmother’s baby ring, a blue rosary made by her mother, and a pin from the groom’s grandmother.

“We tried to make our day classic and fun for our guests. We had a photo booth that lots of people used and we danced all night! We also learned we have some brave friends willing to try the Dirty Dancing lift when ‘I’ve Had the Time of My Life’ was played. We surprised our guests with a food truck serving tater tots for a late night snack.”

Patrick is a scientist working in pharmaceutical development. Jennifer is a Clinical Project Manager and works on clinical trials for emerging diseases. They currently reside in Dickerson, Maryland.

Chinese-Jewish Wedding Celebration | Susana + Matt's Real Frederick Wedding

Susana & Matt live in New York City, but have family who lives close to Frederick, Maryland, so they decided to have their wedding here in Maryland at the Stone Manor Country Club. Matt’s family is Jewish, and Susana’s family is Chinese, so they combined the two traditions for a unique Chinese-Jewish wedding celebration, complete with Chinese wedding outfits (made in China on Beijing’s famous silk street) and Jewish traditions, such as the chuppa and the hora. Susana & Matt opted to do a first look in the Chinese wedding outfits, and then change and do another first look in the traditional American wedding outfits. Susana & Matt had a friend officiate the wedding and read personalized letters from each other as their wedding vows. They also came up with a clever, program filled with great humor detailing what the traditions were that they celebrated throughout the day. Thank you for sharing, Susie & Becky!
