Woolley-Hoffman Engagement

Jake & Erin met through mutual friends in high school and began dating during the summer before their senior year. After attending different high schools, different colleges, and establishing their careers, they got engaged just before celebrating 9 years together.

Jake & Erin will tie the knot on June 29, 2019 in Frederick, Maryland, just a few days after celebrating 10 years together.

Jacob is a Physical Education Teacher at Frederick Classical Charter School, and Erin is a Physical Therapist at Pivot Physical Therapy.

June Holly Hills Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Kelsey and Nick

Kelsey and Nick met at the Great Frederick Fair 11 years ago through a mutual friend. “We started talking a year later after we ran into each other. We have been together for ten years now.”

Nick proposed at their home in 2017. “He proposed after dinner outside during a sunset over the mountains right off of our porch with our puppy and my family to witness. That evening we made so many phone calls to let our family and friends know we were engaged. Nick’s family along with some friends came over to celebrate.”

140 guests were in attendance for their June nuptials, including five bridesmaids, five groomsmen, and a flower girl at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Walkersville, where Kelsey attended as a child. “The church was designed by my uncle who is an architect and my family has been parishioners from the start. We had hydrangea flowers lining the aisle that my mom walked me down.” The couple was married on the same day Kelsey’s maternal grandparents were wed 56 years before.

Nick and Kelsey had some fun moments at their Holly Hills reception. “Nick’s brother is an auctioneer and he auctioned off a dance with the bride during the reception. Nick ‘shot’ the garter to the guys behind him and we all were looking around to see who caught it when someone pointed out that it had got stuck on the ceiling. The guys hoisted up the boyfriend of the girl who caught the bouquet to the garter.”

Kelsey is a dental assistant and Nick is in sales. They currently reside in Creagerstown.

June Ostertag Vistas Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Emily and Erik

Erik and Emily first met at a meeting for newly hired high school teachers in Camden, South Carolina in the summer of 2012. “The principal was the one who introduced us and joked about marriage and being a ‘matchmaker’ which we laughed off. However, what started as a friendship eventually turned into a relationship in 2016.”

Erik and Emily relocated to Maryland in 2017 after deciding to move closer to family and friends. Erik used Palmetto, their yellow lab, as a part of the proposal. Erik took Palmetto out for a walk, and cleverly tied the engagement ring around her neck to surprise Emily. Erik then sent Palmetto into the room where Emily was, and at first, Emily was very confused as to what was going on and didn’t realize the ring was there until Palmetto almost scratched it off. Down on one knee, Erik finally popped the question and Emily said yes immediately.

140 guests were in attendance for their June nuptials at Ostertag Vistas, including five bridesmaids and eight groomsmen. “During our ceremony, we had some unique interruptions that would only happen on a farm. Both interruptions happened during our vows. The first was from a resident donkey who conveniently “hee-hawed” and the second was from three tractors driving by making it hard to hear the vows.”

The couple chose a color palette of blush pink and bright blue suits for their “Rustic, romantic country wedding” decor. “My centerpieces for the dinner and reception tables were DIY. My mom, sisters and I spray-painted vases from antique stores. My dad made all of our wooden centerpieces. And a family friend bought our flowers from a wholesale market and put them together.”

Emily is a high school social studies teacher and Erik is a high school math teacher. They currently reside in Parkville, Maryland.

June Springfield Manor Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Kyle and Julie

Julie and Kyle first met at a wedding of our two of their very good friends. “Kyle was a groomsman and Julie was a bridesmaid. After meeting, we realized we lived ten blocks away from each other in NYC and started dating a couple months later.”

The couple first eloped in Turks and Caicos then chose to have a secondary ceremony and reception for family and friends at Springfield Manor in Thurmont.

175 guests were in attendance for their June outdoor nuptials including seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen. “It was short and quick at about 15 minutes but it was surreal. The wedding was perfect. My wife looked gorgeous and we will remember it for the rest of our lives.”

The couple chose a color palette of peach and teal for their decor. When discussing their favorite memories of the wedding Julie and Kyle mentioned their first dance. “One of the best moments was when we made our entrance to the venue and performed our dance, including the final lift just like in Dirty Dancing. We practiced that quite a bit and were excited to nail it.”

Julie is a teacher and Kyle is a system analyst. They currently reside in New York City.

June Ceresville Elegant Vintage Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Lauren and Michael

Lauren and Michael began texting one another at the urging of their mutual friend, who was sure they would be a perfect match. The two talked by text and phone for days and agreed to meet up for lunch on campus at Howard Community College, where they were both attending. The two continued to meet up and made it official a few weeks later.

Michael proposed to Lauren in Chicago after she had run the Chicago Marathon. “Dozens of pictures and family phone calls ensued after that. It really was an incredible weekend.”

The couple had 150 guests in attendance for their June nuptials, including seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen. “We worked together with our officiant to create a ceremony that consisted of readings that we felt perfectly depicted our unique journey. Our wedding vows were secret from each other until the ceremony.”

Lauren and Michael chose plum, gray, and cream for their “elegant vintage” themed wedding. “I had been using Pinterest a lot during the planning process. It was nice to see my thoughts and wedding desires in person.”

When asked what her favorite part of the wedding was, Lauren shared, “it was definitely the reception. Our DJ nailed it. Everyone was on the dancefloor.”

The couple also had guests from around the globe to celebrate their special day. “We had family and friends come from all over: Nigeria, California, Massachusetts, Michigan, Canada, and Florida. It was great to have all the people we love from all over in the same room. You could feel the love.”

Lauren is a social worker and Michael is a personal trainer. They currently reside in Ellicott City.

Candela-Lieder Engagement

Rachel Lauren Candela, daughter of Terrence and Wendy Candela of Thurmont, and Miles Nathan Lieder, son of Fred and Connie Lieder of Silver Spring, are excited to announce their engagement.

Rachel is a 2010 graduate of Catoctin High School and a 2014 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Towson University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography and mass communications.

Miles is a 2010 graduate of Wheaton High School and a 2012 graduate of Montgomery College where he played baseball.

The couple met four years ago when Rachel attended a performance by “Dale and the ZDubs” at Rams Head Live in Baltimore. Miles played drums and Rachel’s brother was lead guitar. Needless to say, it was quite a show!

Maura and Candice met in high school in Algebra 2 class. “Maura went away to North Carolina for undergrad and we eventually realized that we missed each other more than two friends might miss each other. Somewhere along the way, friendship turned into a relationship.”

Maura planned to propose to Candice on Christmas Eve while we were home visiting. She designed her ring from scratch using Candice’s parents’ wedding diamonds, planned a speech, and bought a personalized coffee mug with “C – Will you marry me?” on the bottom.

When Candice said “No thanks” to coffee, the plans had to change a bit. Maura handed her the empty mug and typed out speech, which Candice didn’t even initially read because she was too busy saying yes. Shortly after, Candice went upstairs to get Maura’s ring that she had hidden away.

100 guests were in attendance for their June nuptials at The Lodges of Gettysburg, including seven bridesmaids on each side including two maids of honors, two junior bridesmaids, and their nephew who acted as the “go-to guy.”

“One of Maura’s best friends from college completed the ceremony, which made it personal, special, and more intimate. We felt so much more comfortable with someone we knew and loved. A few of our friends did readings, and we wrote our own vows.”

The couple chose a color palette of various shade of blue for their decor. One of the bridesmaids sang their first dance song. In lieu of wedding favors, the couple chose to make a donation to the Trevor Project, a nonprofit supporting LGBT+ youth.

“One of our favorite moments was our last dance, which was ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by Journey, where all of our guests joined us on the dance floor.”

Candice is a fifth-grade teacher and Maura is completing her clinical psychology postdoctoral residency. They currently reside in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.

July Springfield Manor Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Elli + Zach

Zach and Elli met ten years ago, their freshman year of college, living on the same dorm floor at Rochester Institute of Technology. “We would casually hang out with other floormates and in the spring we started dating. We’ve been together ever since.”

Zach proposed after a bike ride to the beach in Beverly, Massachusetts. “It was very simple and romantic and I had no idea it was coming.”

142 guests were in attendance for their outdoor July nuptials at Springfield Manor, including a matron of honor and a best man. One of Elli’s friends officiated the ceremony. “It was beautiful, felt personable, and best of all I had my best friend marrying us which is an unforgettable sentiment.”

Deciding where to host their wedding was a tough choice for Elli and Zach. Elli is originally from Middletown, Zach from New England. “Originally it was a very difficult decision on where we were going to get married- Maryland, New England or a destination wedding. But we knew our family and friends wanted to share the special moment with us so we decided on Frederick.”

The couple chose a color palette of burgundy red, navy, pink blushes, and white for their decor. Guests moved freely between Springfield’s ballroom and the outdoors. “It ended up being a nice night, we opened up the ballroom and it was great for folks and the kids to go in and out easily. We had yard games and Adirondack chairs on the lawn so it was great for people to have a great time on the dance floor and then relax outside.”

Elli is an Associate Director of Integrated Production at Racepoint Global and Zach is a Research Associate, Flow Cytometry at Cell Signaling Technology. They currently live in Beverly, Massachusetts.

Olga and Fernando met at a networking event their mutual friend has organized. “We realized that not only we went to the George Mason University and graduated the same semester, we also had quite a few common friends.”

The couple chose a color palette of white, pink and blue for their decor.

The wedding was a blend of cultures. “One of my bridesmaids came all the way from Ukraine to be at my wedding. With the Russian speaking crowd shouting ‘Gorko!’, which means ‘bitter’ and is also a prompt for the newlyweds to kiss, Latin music blasting all night and every single guest unable to sit down for even a second during the party, it was a crazy fun event all of us will never forget.”

Olga wore three separate dresses on her wedding day- one for the ceremony, a second for the first dances, and a third one, “was a fun fringe dress for our salsa partner dance to fire up the dance floor before the party began. Ironically, I was the one with dancing skills and coached my husband to do the routine, even though he’s from Latin America and I’m from Eastern Europe.”

Olga is in finance and Fernando is in consulting. They currently reside in Arlington, Virginia.

Holly Hills Country Club Summer Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Tiffanie + Matthew

Tiffanie and Matthew met in college at a small get together four years ago, “and haven’t stopped talking since.”

Matthew proposed in front of Cinderella’s Castle in Disney World last June. “It was a complete surprise. He asked one of the cast members to take a picture of us in front of the castle and halfway through the shot, he dropped to one knee- talk about feeling like a princess.”

90 guests were in attendance for their outdoor June nuptials at Holly Hills Country Club, including a 13-member bridal party. “We decided to do a wine box ceremony. We wrote our vows in a note that neither of us saw and sealed it in a box with a bottle of wine. On our one year anniversary, we will open the letters, enjoy the wine and write letters for the year following.”

The couple chose a color palette of purple and silver for their wedding decor at Holly Hills. “We knew we wanted to stay local, and Holly Hills is such a beautiful and convenient location. We loved the scenic view outside and were in love with the bridge located on the golf course for pictures.”

When asked about a favorite moment on their wedding day, Tiffanie shared, “Matthew, who is usually pretty shy in front of crowds, performed his own version of the ‘Magic Mike’ dance for the garter removal. He had the crowd rolling.”

Tiffanie is a registered nurse and Matthew is a systems engineer. They currently reside in Point of Rocks.

Summer Musket Ridge Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Amber + Garrett

In 2013 Amber was in her second year of physical therapy school and Garrett had just moved to Maryland to start a job at a power plant after nine years in the Navy. “We were both on Match.com. We met and talked for 6 hours at Buffalo Wild Wings.”

“Garrett told me he wanted to go to Vegas for a weekend and just spend some time together. He said for the tour we had to take a shuttle. We got out at a helicopter port and he had a big smile on his face when I asked excitedly if we were going on a helicopter. The pilot quickly tells us the itinerary which included landing in the Grand Canyon for a picnic lunch and photo ops. We landed in the Grand Canyon! What a breathtaking sight. We go to get our picture taken by the pilot and sure enough, as we stand on the edge of one of the ledges, Garrett dropped to his knee. I obviously said Yes!”

100 guests were in attendance for their outdoor April nuptials at Musket Ridge, including five bridesmaids and two groomsmen. “The walk from the golf club where my dad and I waited for the ceremony site was nerve-wracking but then I saw Garrett. He wiped away tears and was smiling so big, it took the nerves away.”

The couple chose a rustic theme for their wedding decor, with a color palette of coral, gray and navy. “The venue had the most amazing view for guests both at the ceremony and during the reception. The ceremony site sat right at the edge of the course and the reception about 150 ft above it looked out onto green fairways lined with trees.”

Amber is a physical therapist and Garrett is reactor operator at a nuclear power plant. They currently reside in Avondale, Arizona.

Justin had planned to propose to Claire in Charleston, South Carolina during 4th of July fireworks. “But he got nervous about traveling with the ring so decided to propose the morning we left for Charleston. He said he was going upstairs to shower and grab his bags so I helped myself to some breakfast leftovers. Next thing I know he is on one knee in front of me. That’s when he said, ‘I’ve waited long enough, will you marry me?’ After saying shut up a few times I finally said yes. We then rushed off to the airport for our flight.”

168 guests were in attendance for their June nuptials at The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Mount St. Mary’s including five bridesmaids and seven groomsmen. Claire’s high school principal helped officiate the ceremony with Claire’s childhood priest. “To be able to have Fr. Mike who baptized me, did my first reconciliation, Holy Communion, and confirmation and Dr. Turner who knew me in those awkward teen years there was really special. First looks are really popular now but we wanted to stay traditional and have that “first look” be when I was walking down the aisle with my dad. I loved seeing his face when he saw me in my dress and veil.”

The couple chose a “timeless and classic” theme for their wedding, which included a color palette of grays, cream, and blush.

“Justin’s one request for the wedding was that we have live music- nothing else mattered to him as long as we had a band. And it was probably one of the best decisions. We have a lively group of friends and family and it was great to have them up there dancing and playing music with the band.”

Claire is a scheduling supervisor and Justin is a firefighter. They currently reside in Mount Airy.

Cory and Ashley met as freshman in high school. They began dating their sophomore year. “The endless phone calls and sweet little text messages was the extent of our little relationship. We soon broke up and the fun little fling came to an end. I never stopped liking Cory and little did I know, he never stopped liking me either.”

A few years passed and in 2013 they couple reconnected “and our sweet sweet love story began again.”

“Our ceremony was so dreamy. From the moment we booked Dulany’s Overlook, I pictured myself walking through the rose garden towards my groom. My vision became reality on our wedding day and it could not have been more perfect. I think about this moment quite often. All I could do was stare and smile at my handsome soon-to-be husband.”

The couple chose a whimsical and “light and airy feel” for their wedding decor. It included a color palette of blush, sage green, and gold.

“I really enjoyed adding personal touches to our wedding. I was extremely thrilled when Cory and I decided to add our personal favorite, Coca-Cola to our bar. We provided classic glass Coke bottles stored in metal bins for our guests to enjoy during cocktail hour. For dessert, we had an ice cream bar. While we stuck to the tradition of cake cutting, we chose not to serve it. We are the biggest ice cream fans you’ll ever meet. We chose our local creamery, Prigel Family Creamery to cater our special day and boy was it delicious and also a huge hit!”

Ashley works in marketing and Cory works for the State of Maryland. They currently reside in Glen Arm, Maryland.

Joy and Kevin met briefly for the first time in 2010 and later became Facebook friends. In 2013, they crossed paths again at a Saint Patricks Day Celebration. “He asked for my phone number. The next day, he asked me out to dinner. We have been together ever since.”

Kevin proposed in April 2017, after a trip to the beach in New Jersey.

The couple chose a neutral color palette, focusing on pale blue, white, grey, and peach. “Initially I agonized over the palette and bridesmaid dress colors. After I made the decision that I wasn’t going to try to make everything a perfect match, everything fell into place.”

Joy is a behavioral health therapist and Kevin is a business analyst. They currently reside in Owings Mills.

“Brad and I met by him doing work in my parent’s house. My mom decided to give Brad’s work a call to let his dad know how great of a job they did in her house and threw in there that, ‘My daughter thinks your son is cute,’ so it’s safe to say thanks, Mom! Brad and I have been together 6 years.”

Brad proposed on Carroll Creek. “He told me we were going to take family photos since his brother was moving to Tennessee in a few weeks. Somehow he managed to get both of our families together and once I saw all of them standing on the bridge I just knew it was coming.”

Christopher and Sheena met through mutual friends in 2011 and began dating in 2012. The groom proposed at their four-year anniversary dinner in 2016.

50 guests were in attendance for their June nuptials at Milton Ridge, including four groomsmen, three bridesmaids, a ring bearer, and a flower girl. “After the processional, the officiant shared some words of wisdom, we exchanged vows and rings, poured unity sand together, jumped the broom, and we left the chapel has husband and wife. When the officiant asked if anyone objected to our union, no one did and Chris said, ‘Good answer!’”

The Groom and bridal party entered the chapel to the song, ” Happily Ever After,” by Case. The Bride entered to the song, “If I Ain’t Got You,” by Alicia Keys. The recessional song was, “Wifey,” by Next.

“Our favorite part of the wedding was the ceremony. We laughed the entire time from the time we entered until the time we exited. The preparation was also full of laughter. The Groom’s Room had a foosball table, a television, WiFi, and PlayStation. The photography session and the dancing and photo booth at the reception were also a lot of fun. It was just a great night overall and one we will cherish forever. Who says you can’t party on a Monday night?”

The couple chose a color palette of navy and coral for their wedding decor.

Heather and Clint met at a game night through a mutual friend. “It started with him offering me one of his craft beers and ended with him giving me a foot rub. We have been together for 4 and a half years.”

Clint proposed on an anniversary trip to Vermont. “On the second morning of our trip, Clint proposed to me with breakfast in bed. He knew I did not want a public proposal, so this was perfect.”

107 guests were in attendance for their June nuptials, including six bridesmaids and six groomsmen. “We wanted a short, sweet, and to the point ceremony. We worked with our officiant to make sure everything we wanted to be said would be said and it turned out exactly how we wanted. The weather forecast was threatening thunderstorms in the afternoon so we moved the ceremony to under the pavilion, just to be on the safe side. Fortunately, it did not rain, so even though the ceremony was under the pavilion, we were able to take pictures outside overlooking the vineyards and in between the vines. The overcast was perfect for our pictures and we even got a beautiful sunset.”

The couple chose a color palette of light pinks with white and burgundy accents for their wedding decor. “Our day was unique because we incorporated music from our favorite films throughout the day – the girls and I walked down the aisle to Lord of the Rings music, our recessional was Throne Room from Star Wars – and we were announced during the reception by walking under Light Sabers given to the wedding party.”

Clint is a chemistry and physics high school teacher. Heather is a full-time pharmacy school student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. They currently reside in Frederick.

Jamion and Allison both graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University and had mutual friends from school. When Jamion got the Mount St Mary’s Basketball coaching job, Allie came back for Homecoming Weekend with her friends and they were introduced. “From there, we casually talked, but nothing serious. When I moved from Atlanta to Baltimore, a friend suggested we go on a date. So we did and we have been together ever since.”

Jamion asked Allie to marry him in their kitchen before going to dinner. “We celebrated, just us, with champagne and an amazing meal at our favorite spot, Hooch and Banter. We laughed, cried and FaceTimed with all of our loved ones to share the news.”

Our officiant was a close family friend. We wrote our own vows and I said special vows to Jamion’s son. It was lightly raining, but the tree at Walker’s Overlook was decorated so beautifully with florals, that I was determined to get married in front of that tree.”

The couple opted for a “neutral garden party” theme for their wedding decor at Walker’s Overlook.

“Given our wedding was on Cinco de Mayo, it wasn’t too surprising, but we weren’t even halfway through cocktail hour when we started to run out of Margarita Mix! We did an inventory of the bar and Lakefront Liquor Store came through with a delivery. Needless to say, everyone had a great time.”

Jamion is a college basketball coach and Allie is a digital marketer. They recently moved from Frederick to Loudonville, New York.

“We met when we were both serving at the Double T Diner in Ellicott City in 2009 and we didn’t like each other very much at first. But after some time hanging out in the same circles, we discovered that we actually like each other very much,” shared Chelsea.

The couple got engaged in June 2016, before they announced their pregnancy. “Yani took me to dinner at the Tasting Room and popped the question later that night on one knee in the gazebo at Baker Park. In the Fall of 2017, we decided to celebrate our November 11th anniversary by finally getting married. We planned our wedding in less than 6 days.”

30 guests were in attendance for their fall wedding at the Baker Park Bell Tower, including their “best man” Oliver, their son Oliver. “We said our vows right before 11 am- the bells actually rang right after we kissed. It was perfect. We had our reception at Ayse Meze in Shab Row, which took a lot of work off of our hands because it’s already so beautiful.”

The couple chose a color palette of white and cobalt blue for their wedding decor. “Although it wasn’t traditional, having our son get to celebrate with us was so special. We loved watching him dance with his cousins at the reception.”

Brittany Davis and Brian Semkiw were married on June 2, 2018 at Walker’s Overlook. The couple met online. Brittany and Brian incorporated several elements to honor relatives that attended their wedding in spirit. The bride had charms wrapped around her bouquet with pictures of her late grandparents and had sunflowers as the wedding flowers (which were her late grandmothers favorite flowers). Ronald and Tori met through a mutual friend. “We hung out one night at a Friday’s restaurant and from there, our relationship developed at its own pace.”

The groom planned a perfect engagement surprise with friends and family. “ We arrived at the restaurant and in walks my best friend and her husband to tell me they were there for a sip & paint event. As soon as I walked in I noticed my mother and stepdad and said, ‘What are y’all doing here on date night?’ And in the midst of that comment, I almost walked over Ronald who was already on one knee with a ring box open.”

Samantha and Matt met through a mutual friend and dated for three years before Matt proposed to Sam in their apartment one night in February. “She was at work, and I had just picked up the ring from the jewelers. I bought some roses, put the ring inside one of them, and left them by the bed and waited for her to come home. When she got home from work I obviously pretended like nothing was different. I waited for her to go in the bedroom, then followed behind to see her reaction. She was speechless, and I took the ring and formally proposed to her.”

Lodges at Gettysburg Spring Wedding :: Real Frederick Weddings :: Katlyn + Tyler

A mutual friend introduced Tyler and Katlyn over Facebook. “We chatted all night. I invited him to the Federal Hill Halloween bar crawl the next night. Tyler was undergoing medical issues where they found a brain lesion and wasn’t able to drive, so he begged his friend to drive him all the way from Westminster to Baltimore city to meet someone he didn’t even know more than 24 hours earlier. From that moment on when we met the rest was history we were inseparable ever since.”

Tyler surprised Katlyn by having a limo arrive in her parent’s driveway. “He said it was for a birthday surprise. He asked 20 of our friends to take a limo down to Baltimore with us and have dinner in Little Italy and then he proposed on the top of the Four Seasons Hotel and we hung out in Fells Point all night with all of our friends. It was such a great time and an amazing birthday!”

Emily and James met in high school while doing theatre together. James proposed at Disney World in front of Cinderella’s Castle.

The couple chose a color palette of orange and silver for their brunch reception and added in some Disney decor. “We had an omelet station, which was a huge hit. We had brunch type foods, to be a little bit different than other weddings. We got compliments all day about our food choices.”

“My favorite element of wedding planning was figuring out how to add in our “hidden Mickeys” to go with our Disney theme. We wanted it to look classy and elegant, so it wasn’t overboard with Disney. My husband and I both worked at Disney, so it is a large part of our lives, but we still wanted it to be subtle.”

When asked what her favorite part of the wedding was, Emily shared, “I loved seeing everyone! Especially when Time Warp came on, and everyone got up and did the dance. We had a blast.”

Emily is a teacher and James- is works in quality control at Paragon Bioservices. They currently reside in Frederick.

Intimate Dahlgren Chapel Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Steve and Annie

Annie and Steve knew each other from high school in Auburn, Alabama, then their paths crossed decades later once again in Maryland. “I love throwing in that I dated his best friend,” shared Annie.

Steve proposed New Year’s Eve. “I had given up he would ever propose so I had no idea. He kept suggesting romantic spots but I didn’t want to fight the traffic or crowds. So he finally had to just propose right there at home.”

Twenty guests were in attendance for their intimate wedding ceremony at Dahlgren Chapel. “We tried to keep ceremony simple and short but loving and genuine. It’s hard to express the love I felt as I walked down the aisle and saw how absolutely magically my fiancée’s daughter had decorated the chapel. The beauty alone was breathtaking, but knowing it came from the very person I couldn’t wait to call family is beyond words.”

After the ceremony at Dahlgren Chapel in Boonsboro, the couple and their guests had dinner at The Main Cup in Middletown.

Steve is a construction manager and Annie is a piano teacher. They currently reside in Sharpsburg.

Julia and Jeff met on an online in 2016. “We had both done the online dating thing before and weren’t too optimistic about trying again. On our first date we had dinner at an Italian restaurant, and then we didn’t want to part ways yet, so we went next door to the movie theater. We saw Moana, which was the start of a very Disney themed relationship,” shared Julia.

95 guests were in attendance for their wedding at Linganore Wincellars, which overlooked the vineyard, including a maid of honor and a best man. “Our officiant told stories about our relationship before the exchanging of vows and rings. He also made sure to tell our guests ‘May the Fourth be with you!’”

The couple went all in with their wedding theme of Disney and Star Wars. “We partially chose our wedding date of May 4th because it’s ‘Star Wars Day’, and Jeff loves Star Wars. We also knew that we wanted to have Disney elements in our wedding, since that’s a big part of our relationship. Once we decided on these themes, I had so much fun picking out all of the little details to show off our love for them. I spent hours looking for the perfect decorations, signs, etc. I found a veil with Mickey shaped rhinestones and ordered a custom pair of shoes with Disney designs from Etsy. We had Star Wars figurines on tables and lightsabers in our photo corner. It was a fun challenge to see how many elements of the wedding I could fit to the theme.”

Julia is an elementary school librarian and Jeff is a program manager for the government. They currently reside in Mount Airy.
