Amanda and Connor met while in college in 2016. “Our story begins when we were students at East Carolina University. In our senior year, we met at a bar downtown through mutual friends. We were both into each other, but also pretty shy, so it took a few months until we got together. Shortly after graduating, we relocated to northern Virginia and moved in together.”
The couple got engaged in April 2020, during Covid lockdown. “We had a very lowkey engagement, right in the thick of the pandemic. We got fancy takeout for our four-year anniversary. He got down on one knee right at our kitchen table before dinner. It was very us, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”
Ninety guests, including a four-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their November nuptials at Tenth Ward Distilling. “We figured since we met at a bar, getting married at a bar was just fate. The whole thing was personalized to us, making it perfect.”
“Our favorite moment, without a doubt, was our first look. It was private, just between us, with our photographers and moms, which was exactly what we wanted. It felt like our nerves kind of fell away right when we saw each other.”
The couple chose a black and white color palette with touches of pink for their wedding decor. “Our vision included lots of greenery to compliment the exposed brick. Our wedding was pretty laid back. I remember the thing we prioritized most was fun. A majority of our guests were traveling to be there, and we wanted to make sure they had a great time.”
Amanda is a 3rd-grade teacher in Falls Church, Virginia, and Connor is an accountant ledger analyst at a government contractor. They currently live in Vienna, Virginia
