Hoo Boy. Colleen + Tim’s story is a doozy! But it ends in the best way possible when Glen Ellen Farms steps in. A big thank you to Emily Gude for sharing this wonderful wedding and story with us.
I’ll let Colleen, the beautiful bride, share some info first…
“After spending years giggling with my girlfriends about my “dream wedding” I was finally getting the chance. 5 days before my wedding, everything was set. RSVPs were in, my timeline was finally on its final draft, I was getting ready to have all my family and friends in town. There was not a thing that could bring my amazing mood down….well except for a newspaper article. Saturday night before my Friday wedding, my then fiancee comes bursting through our door after work , “Go check out the Frederick News Post!! Has anyone from Shade Trees called you? I don’t think we can have our wedding there!”
Sheer panic set in as I quickly searched for the article. I started reading and the further I got the more the tears built up in my eyes. My venue, the most beautiful place, has been shut down…5 days before my wedding, without even telling me. How can this happen!? How did a place so beautiful care so little about their brides? I was devastated.
And so on Mother’s Day, my mom and I sprung in to action. My venue was not willing to give me any details so we did what any logical person would do, try and find a new venue. This seemed like an impossible task, but you know who was up for it? Our vendors, my family, and all of our friends.
Not only did our caterer find a new venue in 24 hours, but in all honesty it was even more gorgeous than I could have hoped. It fit exactly what I wanted for my wedding, and I didn’t even know I wanted it till I saw it. Not only did our caterer find this beautiful farm, but they then helped us change all of our arrangements to fit the new space.
All of our other vendors were so willing to meet with us, again, to calm our nerves and ensure us that even with the last minute change everything would be perfect. And you know what? It was, without a doubt, the most beautiful day. I wish I could remember more details about the day (luckily I have the most fantastic photographer to help me with this) but I can remember the feeling perfectly.
I remember the love, the warmth, the sheer joy of not only my husband and I but the emotion from all of our friends, family, and even our vendors. Your wedding day goes by quickly, but the emotions of love and happiness stick with you. And that’s a wonderful thing.”
We love that family, friends and vendors came together to make this special day so amazing. That’s what it’s all about! And a big huge shout out to Glen Ellen Farms who has taken in so many couples during this unfortunate closing of a popular wedding venue!
