Katelyn and Jason met in high school at band camp. “I am a year older than Katelyn and was going into my senior year of high school. We dated for a few years into college and then went our separate ways. However, every time we were both home from college, we met for coffee at the Lincoln Diner in Gettysburg. After I graduated college, I moved to California to begin my career and it just so happened that a year later, Katelyn got offered a job at the same Navy base in 2018.”
“After we broke up in college, I told her mom that I was going to marry her daughter someday. I had known from the moment we met that she was going to be my partner in crime for life. I decided to propose to her on the flight deck of the USS Midway in San Diego.”
The couple, along with 160 guests, celebrated more than just wedding vows in July. “Our ceremony grew from just a wedding to an anniversary celebration & Sacraments of Initiation. We renewed our vows, baptized both Jason and our first daughter, and blessed the pregnancy of our second daughter.”
Katelyn and Jason chose a traditional and elegant Fourth of July Red White & Blue-themed wedding, with the Grand Ballroom at the Gettysburg Hotel as the backdrop. “For late-night treats, we had Mr. G’s Ice Cream and movie theater popcorn since those were our most frequented dates. For our special exit, we ended the night with Jason’s family’s tradition of the males singing “Parting Glass” and saying goodbye to all of our guests.”
Katelyn is a scientist and Jason is an Aerospace Engineer. Both work as civilians for the Navy. They currently reside in Virginia Beach.
