Allison and Brian met in an agricultural class at South Carroll High School in 2013. “We had the opportunity to compete together on our school’s FFA floriculture team at the University of Maryland. Brian was driving the team home from UMD, when one of our team members awkwardly said something along the lines of ‘I’m pretty sure you both like each other’… and they were not wrong! For the rest of the summer, we continued to get to know each other.”
The couple got engaged in October 2020, on a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. “Brian and I spent the day exploring the town. I was so exhausted after our busy day that I took an early evening nap, only for Brian to wake me up and tell me I needed to get dressed to go see a museum. I didn’t really understand why a museum was worth waking me up from a nap, but it turned out he was actually driving us to a field overlooking the mountains. When we got there, Brian told me, ‘We have a date with a photographer,’ and I finally knew what was happening.”
120 guests, including an eight-person wedding party, helped the two celebrate their outdoor June nuptials. ”We didn’t do a first look, so seeing each other while I walked down the aisle was one of the most special moments of the day. We performed a unity tree ceremony- we potted a tree, gave it water, and our officiant verbally deceived the symbolic meaning of growing and nurturing the tree, as we will our marriage.”
“Our theme and colors were described as ‘garden glam’ and was meant to amplify the beauty of Springfield Manor. We had lavender, sage, and peach as our main color palette. We wanted a semi-formal feel but also wanted our guests to have fun during the reception.”
Brian is a correctional deputy for the Carroll County Sheriff’s office, and Allison is a correctional specialist for the Carroll County Sheriff’s office. Additionally, Allison has worked for Blossom & Basket Boutique since she was 15 years old and continues to work there evenings and on the weekends. They live in Taneytown.
