Cristina + Gonzalo's Real Frederick Engagement

From the photographer:

Cristina went down to Peru to help out at an orphanage, and on the last week there, she met Gonzalo. During the next few days, he would either look for her or text her. She came back to the states, and it was not quite over yet. It started with facebook chat, made its way to texting, and finally they admitted feelings for each other. So Cristina decided to go to Lima, Peru to visit him. The day she got there, he got a ring. And before she left, he got down on one knee.

Having the engagement session in downtown Frederick was PERFECT. It was full of energy and they had a blast, at least I hope so! Their love is evident in the many smiles and hugs.

On the Creek | Julia + Jonathan's Real Frederick Engagement

Jonathan and Julia met as young children while going to church together. At 10 years old they were teased by siblings that they liked each other. It was soon realized that they in fact did like each other. They spent a lot of time instant messaging and writing notes to each other. For Julia’s 13th birthday, Jonathan bought her a heart shaped locket with a picture of him in it. Parents got wind of this and things quickly changed. Fast forward 6 years later to Julia’s college graduation, when her brother invited Jonathan on the family’s celebratory trip. Jonathan stayed an extra day when Julia’s friends went home and they spent time talking and catching up. They were surprised by each other’s personalities and changes during those six years. About three weeks later the two went to a family wedding together and their families were so surprised and excited, as it had been predicted for years. After 17 months of dating, Jonathan proposed on Christmas Eve. He asked Julia to grab gifts out of the trunk, she opened the trunk only to find the open ring box. When she turned around, surprised and confused, she found Jonathan on one knee. The 6.5 month engagement will consist of planning a wedding and buying a house. The two are getting married July 13th, 2014 at The Links at Gettysburg and will be honeymooning in Punta Cana. Thank you to Mary Sarah Photography for sharing this day with us!

Lime + Teal Typographic Wedding | Jenn + Matt’s Real Frederick Wedding

What happens when two talented graphic designers get hitched? A beautiful wedding full of eye candy is what happens!

Jenn and Matt incorporated the story of how they first met into all of their wedding materials and their wedding day.

“Matt and I met in a college drawing class so we decided to mail guests a pencil as part of our save the date and each subsequent collateral piece utilized the pencil in some way. The invitation folded out to a poster and contained a connect-the-dots illustration. On RSVP cards, we asked guests to draw (or write) a message, which we displayed during our reception. Lastly, we collaborated with a relative to create our guestbook poster, which features a pencil illustrated portrait of us. Guests helped put the finishing touches on the poster by applying their fingerprints. “

Why did you decide to have your wedding in Frederick?
Matt and I moved to the Frederick area shortly after getting engaged and have fallen in love with the downtown area. We really enjoy the historic charm and the artistic vibe of the city. Also, since Matt and I are both graphic designers and love art, we wanted to have our wedding in a great art community. Frederick has such a great local arts scene and the Delaplaine is a wonderful visual arts center that we wanted our guests to experience.

What did you try and incorporate into your wedding that showed off Frederick?
The location of our ceremony along Carroll Creek made for a beautiful setting and really showed off the charm and great urban feel of downtown Frederick. We also wanted to incorporate several of the galleries and rooms of the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center into our wedding. The bridal party got ready in the Delaplaine’s library and the reception was held in the pavilion. We also had a photo booth setup in the Kline gallery and the guests were free to walk through several of the other galleries during the evening. Lastly, we used several local vendors because we wanted to highlight all of the talented professionals in the Frederick area.

What would you tell other couples who are planning a wedding in Frederick?
We loved the location of our ceremony along Carroll Creek and our reception in the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center. The staff at the Delaplaine were very helpful and wonderful to work with. Both venues provided a unique atmosphere and we would highly recommend them to other couples planning a wedding in Frederick.
