Caitlin and Colin met in 2015 when Caitlin added Colin as a friend on Facebook, noting how cute he was. “We had grown up in the same hometown and worked at the same mall, so I knew of Colin – but we went to rival high schools and never had our paths cross. Colin posted a photo of him rescuing a baby bird in his backyard which sparked a Facebook conversation that went on all evening. The next day he invited me to lunch.”
Colin proposed during a concert in 2019. “Colin introduced me to his favorite local band when we first started dating, Silent Old Mountains. We followed them for years and absolutely love going to their shows. SOM played a show at the Sky Stage in Frederick and the lead singer invited Colin to the stage to say a few words about the band. Instead, he proposed in front of a full crowd.”
Eighty guests including a twelve-person wedding party helped the couple celebrate their nuptials in October of 2020. “Colin’s dad was our officiant, which was really special to us. We decided to have an Irish Knot Tying Ceremony. Each of our families chose a ribbon of a significant color while Colin and I also chose a color of our own. Our mothers brought forward their ribbon, and the maid of honor brought ours. Our officiant tied them in a knot on our hands to signify the unity of us and our families.”
The couple described their reception as, “laid back with fall flare. We’re local to Frederick and really love the mountains. Nature is such an important part of our relationship and as avid hikers, we fell in love with Thorpewood.
Caitlin is an administrative secretary for Frederick County Public Schools and Colin is a project engineer for Floswerve. They currently reside in Frederick.
