Australian and American Musket Ridge Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Kaitlyn and Cameron

Kaitlyn and Cameron met while completing degrees at Ball State University in Indiana. “We both moved away from our homes, Cameron from Australia and me from Maryland. We were both involved in the athletics program at Ball State, which is where we met and developed an unbelievable friendship. As time went on this friendship grew stronger and stronger, and in the Fall of 2016, we started dating.”

When Cameron’s mother came to visit from Australia, he orchestrated a very special dinner with Kaitlyn’s parents joining.” We ordered dessert and it came out with a special phrase attached it.”

140 guests were in attendance for their outdoor June nuptials at Musket Ridge, including four bridesmaids and four groomsmen. “My favorite part about the wedding was that we had tons of friends and family from all walks of life, both from near and far. All of our guests created an unforgettable atmosphere, which helped create many lasting memories.”

The couple set up a candy station for guests to take home as a thank you for celebrating. “The candy represented some of our favorite candy from both the United States and Australia.”

Cameron is a collegiate strength and conditioning coach and Kaitlyn is a USA Gymnastics Club Coach. They currently reside in Lexington, Kentucky.

Romantic June Stone Manor Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Jenn + Dom

Jenn and Dom met in middle school but didn’t connect until their senior year in high school. “ We spent the whole summer getting to know each other, and then in the fall our relationship began.”

Dom proposed to Jenn while they were visiting family in Calabria Italy for a wedding. “A few days before our trip ended he brought me down to my favorite spot on the coast in Scilla and under the moon and stars overlooking Calabria and Sicily he asked me to marry him.”

225 guests were in attendance for their June Stone Manor wedding, including eight bridesmaids and eight groomsmen. “My parents gifted me a horse and carriage ride for the ceremony entrance, it was a fairytale beginning. We had a friend marry us because we wanted someone who knew us. Our closest friends stood by our side. It was short but magical and sweet.”

Peach, pink and yellow made up the colors for their wedding decor, which Jenn described as “whimsical romantic.” When asked why they chose Stone Manor for their wedding, they shared they, ”loved how open it is out there. The fields, mountain views, all the greenery. It’s very picturesque.”

Jenn is a hairstylist and Dom is a general contractor. They currently reside in Westminster.

June Ceresville Elegant Vintage Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Lauren and Michael

Lauren and Michael began texting one another at the urging of their mutual friend, who was sure they would be a perfect match. The two talked by text and phone for days and agreed to meet up for lunch on campus at Howard Community College, where they were both attending. The two continued to meet up and made it official a few weeks later.

Michael proposed to Lauren in Chicago after she had run the Chicago Marathon. “Dozens of pictures and family phone calls ensued after that. It really was an incredible weekend.”

The couple had 150 guests in attendance for their June nuptials, including seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen. “We worked together with our officiant to create a ceremony that consisted of readings that we felt perfectly depicted our unique journey. Our wedding vows were secret from each other until the ceremony.”

Lauren and Michael chose plum, gray, and cream for their “elegant vintage” themed wedding. “I had been using Pinterest a lot during the planning process. It was nice to see my thoughts and wedding desires in person.”

When asked what her favorite part of the wedding was, Lauren shared, “it was definitely the reception. Our DJ nailed it. Everyone was on the dancefloor.”

The couple also had guests from around the globe to celebrate their special day. “We had family and friends come from all over: Nigeria, California, Massachusetts, Michigan, Canada, and Florida. It was great to have all the people we love from all over in the same room. You could feel the love.”

Lauren is a social worker and Michael is a personal trainer. They currently reside in Ellicott City.

Ceresville Mansion Orange and Blue Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Emily and James

Emily and James met in high school while doing theatre together. James proposed at Disney World in front of Cinderella’s Castle.

101 guests were in attendance for their nuptials at Ceresville Mansion, including right bridesmaids and groomsmen.

The couple chose a color palette of orange and silver for their brunch reception and added in some Disney decor. “We had an omelet station, which was a huge hit. We had brunch type foods, to be a little bit different than other weddings. We got compliments all day about our food choices.”

“My favorite element of wedding planning was figuring out how to add in our “hidden Mickeys” to go with our Disney theme. We wanted it to look classy and elegant, so it wasn’t overboard with Disney. My husband and I both worked at Disney, so it is a large part of our lives, but we still wanted it to be subtle.”

When asked what her favorite part of the wedding was, Emily shared, “I loved seeing everyone! Especially when Time Warp came on, and everyone got up and did the dance. We had a blast.”

Emily is a teacher and James- is works in quality control at Paragon Bioservices. They currently reside in Frederick.

Navy Blue and Lilac April Stone Manor Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Jennifer + Patrick

Patrick and Jennifer planned a trip to Savannah, Georgia for their 3rd anniversary. “We explored the city, walked around and rode bikes. Later in the evening, Patrick surprised me with a horse-drawn carriage ride around town. The carriage stopped at one of the many squares in the city, and we got out for a closer look and that is when Patrick proposed. We returned to our carriage and went for a celebratory dinner,” shared Jennifer.

125 guests were in attendance for their wedding ceremony, including six bridesmaids, six groomsmen, and two ushers at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. “Seeing each other at the church for the first time was a great moment.”

The couple chose a color palette of navy blue and lilac for their decor for their reception, held at Stone Manor Country Club. The bride incorporated her something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue into her bouquet, including pins from her grandfather’s Army uniform, her grandmother’s baby ring, a blue rosary made by her mother, and a pin from the groom’s grandmother.

“We tried to make our day classic and fun for our guests. We had a photo booth that lots of people used and we danced all night! We also learned we have some brave friends willing to try the Dirty Dancing lift when ‘I’ve Had the Time of My Life’ was played. We surprised our guests with a food truck serving tater tots for a late night snack.”

Patrick is a scientist working in pharmaceutical development. Jennifer is a Clinical Project Manager and works on clinical trials for emerging diseases. They currently reside in Dickerson, Maryland.

Leslie flew to Hawaii after her graduation from JMU to meet up with Dylan, who was stationed at Pearl Harbor. “We went on a beautiful hike with the mountains on one side and ocean on the other. Dylan got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.”

130 guests were in attendance, including seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen for Leslie and Dylan’s outdoor nuptials at Springfield Manor. “Our ceremony was very simple and traditional. Our officiant read some scripture, we recited traditional vows and exchanged rings.”

The couple chose rustic decor for their reception, and used the colors green, gold and rose to match the setting.

“Our favorite part of our wedding was having all our friends and family in one place. We had friends we haven’t seen in years come to celebrate our marriage and it was so wonderful to have everyone together. Our day was fun because everyone was having a good time dancing and enjoying the day! The funniest part was the garter removal. Dylan went to get the garter and I had a Smirnoff ice attached! He was surprised and the crowd went wild.”

Leslie is a second-grade teacher in Loudoun County, Virginia and Dylan is in the Navy, currently stationed in Pearl Harbor Hawaii.

Winter Wedding at Holly Hills Country Club :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Samantha + Collin

In 2015 Samantha and Collin went on a trip to a mutual friend’s cabin in the mountains. “We had our first kiss there, then started officially dating a few weeks later.”

Collin proposed to Samantha in February 2017 during a walk in Downtown Frederick. “We stopped on the way to dinner to buy some Girl Scout cookies. Collin made sure to put the cookies down before he proposed.”

120 guests were in attendance for their January wedding, including five bridesmaids and five groomsmen. The ceremony was held at Samantha’s family church, St. Mary’s Church and Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Barnesville, MD. “It meant a lot to have our families there to share and take part in the ceremony.”

The couple chose a color palette of steel blue, blush pink, and navy for their wedding decor. When asked why they chose their reception venue, Samantha shared, “We loved Holly Hills because it was a full-service venue. We knew that they would be there to help our vision come to life.”Samantha is a teacher and Collin is a graphic designer. They currently reside in New Market.

Holly Hills Gold and Wine-themed Fall Wedding :: Real Frederick Wedding :: Anshea + Devrin

Devrin, unknown to Anshea, took a day off work to set up his holiday proposal. “He met me after work and we went to dinner. When we got home, he had strung Christmas lights all throughout our apartment. There was a poster on the wall that said, “Reasons Why I Will Always Love You.” On the poster, there were a bunch of post-it notes. He handed me the notes one by one and I had to read them aloud. The last note said, “because you said yes!” Then he got down on one knee. It was so sweet and romantic. And yes, I cried.”

125 guests were in attendance for their outdoor October ceremony at Holly Hills Country Club, including seven bridesmaids, one junior bridesmaid, and seven groomsmen.

“Our ceremony was short and sweet. We had scripture readings by our grandmothers. I cried during my vows, but I got them out. Thankfully, Devrin had put tissues in his pocket before the ceremony.”

The couple concluded their ceremony by jumping the broom. “Jumping the Broom is an African American wedding tradition, “ shared Anshea. “Because slaves weren’t permitted to marry, they often jumped over a broom to ceremoniously unite. Today, it is done as a way to honor our ancestors as well as to symbolize starting off the marriage with a ‘clean sweep.’”

The couple chose a theme of wine and gold to match the fall weather. Anshea and Devrin also created a custom cocktail for their reception. “Our signature cocktail was a custom recipe created by my cousin and we named it “The Major Ambush.”’

Anshea is a legal assistant and Devrin is an auto estimator. They currently reside in Perry Hall, Maryland.

Ceresville Mansion Rock and Roll Wedding :: Catherine and Thomas :: Real Frederick Wedding

Catherine and Thomas met while Attending Linganore High School. “I remember meeting freshman year in English but he says we met junior year of high school. We were in the same class club, and he got my number from a mutual friend,” said Catherine. The two began dating in 2009. Thomas left Maryland to attend art school in Chicago, but the two continued to date long distance for five years.

Impending rain threatened their outdoor ceremony at Ceresville Mansion, but stopped right as the ceremony began. The couple had six bridesmaids and six groomsmen in their wedding party. 130 guests were in attendance.

“When the pastor said ‘you may kiss the bride’ my husband did not wait the two seconds we were instructed to the day prior so the pastor would be out of the pictures. Then we had to kiss again.”

The couple, having dated since they were 16, had many photographs to share of relationship. Photographs were sprinkled throughout the wedding reception of their seven year courtship.

The groom’s band, The Belvederes, drove from Chicago to Maryland to perform at the wedding reception. The band played the first dance, the father-daughter and mother-son dances. “They brought such joy and life to the day and made it even more special because they came all that way to support their friend.”

On each table the couple provided anniversary cards. Guests were asked write memories from the day or well wishes to the newlyweds to read on their future anniversary dates. The wedding favors were drumstick pencils, a homage to the couple’s vocations- Thomas is a drummer and Caroline is a teacher.

Thomas is originally from New Market, and Catherine from Mt.Airy. They currently live in Chicago. The couple honeymooned after the wedding in Ireland.

First dance: ‘Every Single Word’ Original song by groom’s band, The Belvederes

The Proposal: “We went for a walk by the lake near his house to a weeping willow tree. He explained how much he loved me and wanted to be with me forever. At first I asked if he was being serious, and then when he got the ring out I shook my head yes. I was so surprised I didn’t start crying until we started walking back to his house.”

Advice to other couples: “Enjoy the engagement as much as possible, and didn’t stress out over planning. The day goes by way too fast, and try to enjoy every minute of it.”

Walker’s Overlook Marigold and Orange Real Frederick Wedding :: Brittany + Robert

Brittany and Robert’s wedding included all the people they love, including their dog Lyanna. 150 guests, including seven bridesmaids, a junior bridesmaid, and seven groomsmen, watched as the couple was married under a tree adorned with flowers, officiated by one of Brittany’s favorite teachers.

The bride, a kindergarten teacher in Baltimore County, and the groom, a Project Manager for Home Depot met in college. “Rob sat next to me in week two of a class at Towson University. The semester ended and Rob was very effective at liking every post I ever put on Facebook and the rest is history.”

According to the couple the theme of their wedding was, “Fun! Anything that was bright and happy and worked with the venue vibe was what we went with. I would call it an eclectic theme. Pieces of our families history were all around.” Warm yellows, oranges and reds rounded out the color palette.

The couple honeymooned in Rivera Maya after the wedding. Brittany and Robert currently live in Westminster.

The ceremony: “We had a friend playing an acoustic guitar in for the guests as they were sitting and I walked down the aisle with my maids to Rachel Platten’s “Better Place.” It felt like something out of a movie. Our daughter Ruby read a quote from her and Rob’s favorite movie, “Tangled.” My brother sang “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey which, yes, was very random, but so much fun and a perfect way to describe the relationship that Rob and I have. We wrote our own vows and exchanged rings while tears flowed and laughter echoed. It was the best day ever.”

The reception: “It was an incredible feeling to look around and see all of our ideas come to life and see everyone having a blast. We had the best time dancing the night away. We even had a pants splitting incident that was swiftly solved by tying a chair cushion around the victim’s waste.”

First Dance: Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker

The engagement: I was in Baltimore and headed to the harbor for lunch with a friend when all of a sudden she had me running up Federal Hill (which is not an easy task) where Rob was waiting for me on a bench. I knew right then that this was it. And of course I said yes!

Something funny that happened: We even had a pants splitting incident that was swiftly solved by tying a chair cushion around the victim’s waste.

The couple’s advice for planning a wedding: “Relax and have fun with it and most of all remember to be respectful to all of the hard-working vendors out there doing their job. Be understanding and open to new ideas! Involve everyone who wants to help with the wedding because you will need it and it is way more fun to be busy and wedding stressed with some wine and some friends rather than alone.”

Mary and Allen were married outside in late October at The Morningside Inn. Their color palette of oranges and browns mimicked the leaves on the trees behind their wedding venue. “The leaves were at their peak. It was perfect.”

100 guests, three bridesmaids and three groomsmen watched Mary and Allen exchange vows at their outdoor ceremony, officiated by Tom Larimore.

The groom is a mechanic and the bride is a sales administrator. Mary and Allen honeymooned in Cape Canaveral and currently live in Taneytown, Maryland.

First Dance: Home to You by John Michael Montgomery

How they met: at work in 2012

The engagement: Allen got up early on November 16, 2014 and made cinnamon pull apart bread for breakfast and hid the engagement ring under the bread. “We were eating breakfast and there it was, the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. And of course I said yes!”

The couple’s advice for planning a wedding: “The first decision you need to make is when and where, it really helps the rest of the details fall into place. I also found it really helpful to use a planning guide, it helped keep us on schedule.”
