Caroline and Jack met in 2018 on a dating app. “We swiped right. As we ate pizza on our first date, we bonded over movies, traveling, and Baltimore. I learned how shipping works, and he learned how science works. He thought I was a nerd, still true, and I thought he was super cute, also still true.”
Jack proposed on an annual family vacation in Deep Creek Lake. “We were setting up camp for my parents. Suddenly, Jack was on one knee, and my dad drew his saber- for the champagne, of course.”
One-hundred-thirty-two guests, including an eight-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their September wedding at Antrim 1844. “Antrim just seemed to have the exact things we needed, like the beautiful garden and wonderfully historic rooms. We included nautical touches to the ceremony as Jack is a Ship Captain and so we had a knot-tying ceremony and nautical readings.”
Caroline and Jack chose blue, ivory, and gold for their wedding decor. “I tried to include as many gold-colored things as possible, including the gold cutlery, candelabras, mirrors, and various chandeliers, which my dad provided and hung. I’ve never laughed and cried more on one single day than on my wedding day. The sparklers at the end of the reception were a big hit and so pretty.”
Caroline is a research specialist in a covid19 lab at Johns Hopkins University, and Jack is a Ship Captain on the Chesapeake. They reside in Timonium, Maryland.
