We don’t even know where to begin with Laura and Jonathan’s BEAUTIFUL wedding that took place in October at Chef Bryan Voltaggio’s VOLT Restaurant in historic Downtown Frederick. The architecture, the flowers, the food…oh, the food! Get all the lovely details below, as described by the event coordinator, Vicky Choy of Event Accomplished:
As guests arrived, they were greeted with sparkling wine and signature cocktails to start the celebration. For an intimate ceremony, guests stood in a circle surrounding the couple who stood in the center under a suspended floral installation as they exchanged their vows. The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s brother and the bridal party consisted of the groom’s son (best man), the bride’s niece (maid of honor) and their other niece and nephews. After the ceremony, guests lunched on an assortment of seasonal, scrumptious passed canapes and stationary items from oysters to goat cheese ravioli. To start the dancing, Laura and Jonathan danced for the first time as husband and wife to the song “You Are” by Lionel Richie, joined by Jonathan’s son midway. Jonathan, an accomplished drummer, joined his band, Detached Retina, for a few songs.
The decor was inspired by the rich colors of the fall season and 19th century Gilded Era architecture of Volt. The description on the restaurant’s website, “Victorian elegance with contemporary, urban sophistication” very much describes the style of the wedding as well. The style first manifested itself in the invitations with a strong neutral base color of black and cocoa shimmer, highlighted with a pop of Persimmon. The cocktail-style luncheon reception encouraged guests to move about the restaurant’s indoor space and outdoor ivy-lined brick courtyard. Our floral designer created several installations that hung on the walls of the main dining room. To highlight the center of the tent, she also created a suspended floral arrangement that was whimsical yet elegant. Cocktail tables were dressed in a vibrant red tablecloth with an orange circular pattern, topped with rich colored flowers in a pierced metal container.
