Courtney and Taylor began dating in 2016, but have known one another since high school. “We didn’t get to know each other until I took my car to Taylor’s family business in Smithsburg. Taylor had his new black lab puppy Corbin in the shop at the time and coming from a family of black labs myself, I couldn’t resist getting to know the puppy and Taylor. From there, it was history.”
In 2019, the couple purchased their first home together. “After closing on our home, Taylor told me that our realtor wanted us to take a few ‘sold’ pictures in front of our new home. Little did I know, our families were there waiting for us when we got to the house to ‘watch’ the photos and ‘celebrate the closing.’ During the last photo, he went down on one knee and popped the question. It was such an exciting day and I was so happy that our families could be there with us.”
110 guests, including an eight-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their December wedding in Thurmont. “We took a risk and had our ceremony outside, in December. It actually turned out to be an unseasonably warm day and we had a beautiful ceremony in ThorpeWood’s whimsical Pine Cathedral. Although there wasn’t any real snow in the forecast, we had a faux snow recessional and it was such a magical moment.”
Courtney has always loved Hallmark Christmas movies and decided to make her dream of having a holiday wedding a reality. “As cheesy as they may be, there is something so magical and heart-warming about them. From the venue to the decorations, and snow recessional during the ceremony, I loved seeing how all of the different pieces of the puzzle came together to make one perfect day.”
“I lost my father in 2014, and that was very difficult for our family. It was hard to think about a wedding without my dad, but my mom and I took this time to become closer and plan something special we could all enjoy. I loved seeing how excited she was thinking about decorations and different elements of the whole wedding. With the help of my sisters, my mother did all of the greenery and floral arrangements for the wedding. Everyone asked who the vendor was, and I was honored to say it was my mom.”
Courtney is a marketing manager in Hagerstown and Taylor is a mechanic and manager in Smithsburg. They reside in Sabillasville.
