Matt and Lindsay had just hiked back to their Niagra Falls campsite after being tourists at the falls and were preparing to cook dinner. “Matt asked me to help him get the dutch oven out of the car, acting like it was stuck under the seat. So I was leaning over pushing the seat forward and turned around to find him on one knee with the ring, and a simple ‘will you marry me?’ I think I said shut up and almost fainted- we were on the trip for his birthday so I was very surprised!”
165 guests were in attendance for their outdoor ceremony held the Barn at York Hill, including two maids of honor, two junior bridesmaids, one flower girl, two best men, one junior groomsman, and one ring bearer. “It rained all day on our wedding day, but we were dying to get married outside under a big American Sycamore tree. The rain ended up stopping right before our ceremony so the chairs were wiped down and we were able to get married outside.”
The couple opted for a vintage and upcycled theme for their wedding. Elements included a mix of antiques, hand-painted signs, and freshly arranged flowers. “We even used old windows and shutters to display pictures and our food menu.”
Lindsay enjoyed pulling all the elements together for their DIY wedding. “We made all the decorations, even the flower arrangements. I loved creating all the chalkboard signs and going antique shopping.”
Matt is an electrician and Lindsay is an environmental scientist. The two reside in Mount Airy.
