Brandon and Samantha first met in 2006, in a freshman high school government class. “Brandon had a seat right behind me and I thought he was just the nerdy class clown. Then Brandon started passing me little flirtatious notes when the teacher was not looking and we slowly got to know each other. We went from friends to best friends to dating by senior year.”
The couple got engaged in 2019. “Samantha was finishing up her doctorate studies at Marshall University and she had come up with the idea of exploring the northern tip of West Virginia for spring break. On the morning of our trip, we were making small talk while she was packing and I said, ‘I’m really excited to go on this adventure with you.’ Samantha said ‘me too!’, and I quickly spoke up and said, ‘no, I mean this one’ and she turned to see me on one knee.”
135 guests joined the couple for their wedding day at Stone Manor Country Club. “When I saw Brandon for the first time, I saw him take a huge deep breath and almost break down in tears. We decided to write our own vows for the wedding; we were both so nervous but got through them without crying. For our unity symbol, we chose a lovelock tree with personalized locks for our parents to place on the roots and a larger lock for us to place in the center of the tree.”
Samantha and Brandon chose the unique wedding theme of sweet and spicy. “Our tables were not organized by numbers, but by desserts or hot peppers. Our signature drinks were strawberry lemonade macaron and hot tamale. One of the best parts was having a graphic designer for a future husband to really nail our theme. Brandon was able to design so much of what I was looking for including our guestbook, custom drinks, and fans.”
Brandon is a freelance graphic designer and Samantha is a physical therapist. They currently live in Towson, Maryland.
