Fred popped the question to Kaylia on New Year’s Eve in 2016. “We spent the evening at his parent’s house and left to go home at about 11:30. As soon as I opened the door I saw candles lit along our steps leading up to the living room. Then there was a pathway of candles and confetti to our dining room. I looked up and there a huge sign on the wall that said, ‘Will you marry me,’ then I looked down and he was on one knee with a ring.”
162 guests were in attendance for Fred and Kayla’s outdoor Musket Ridge ceremony, including six bridesmaids, six groomsmen, and a flower girl. “I was already very emotional but she made it into such a beautiful, loving and touching ceremony it felt like it was just Fred and me there. We had a sand ceremony which included my son and that made it very special to me. There was also a family blessing where our parents came up and surrounded us and she prayed over us and that was a beautiful touch.”
The couple chose a pastel palette for their wedding colors, including blush, lilac, and white. “We were originally just looking for reception spaces as I wanted our ceremony to be in a church but after seeing the ceremony space and mountains views at Catoctin Hall at Musket Ridge I changed my mind as I fell in love instantly.”
Fred is a senior desktop engineer and Kaylia is a registered nurse. They currently reside in Germantown, Maryland.
