This beautiful wedding, documented by Erin Wheeler Photography has us so excited for warmer weather! It is chock-full of lush scenery and gorgeous details. We’ll let Erin tell you more about it!
“Courtney Rose and Adam got married at the Strong Mansion in Dickerson, Maryland. Their wedding day started off gloomy and rainy. We weren’t sure if the rain was going to let up but with a last minute decision, Courtney decided that she was going to hold the wedding outside as planned. Like something out of a movie the skies cleared once she walked down the aisle. Talk about best decision ever! I couldn’t believe it stopped raining and it made for such a unforgettable day! The photos tell their story so well.
The couple included two ceremony traditions – the breaking of the glass and the jumping of the broom. Breaking of the glass is a Jewish tradition that reminds us that love, like glass is fragile and must be protected. The glass is broken to protect the marriage with an implied prayer. Jumping of the broom is a West African tradition where the bride and groom symbolically sweep away their former single lives, problems and concerns. Jumping over the broom to enter upon a new adventure as husband and wife.”
