Shawn and Megan met while attending Stevenson University. “Shawn and I lived in the same dorm on campus. On move-in day Shawn and I rode the elevator a few times together, but it was at an ice cream social that the resident assistants were hosting where I really got to know him. He brought in pizza from the local on-campus pizza shop and asked if I would like some pizza. I giggled and ate some of his pizza. And from there it was history.”
The couple got engaged on a trip with friends to New York City. “He got down on one knee and asks me to marry him in the most magical way, in Central Park, and of course I said ‘yes’”
110 guests were in attendance at their indoor ceremony at Holly Hills Country Club, including a 12 person bridal party. “Our wedding ceremony was something that Shawn and I picked out to match our personalities. While we had bits of traditional parts of the ceremony much of it was modernized. We wrote our own vows, exchanged rings and then did a wine box ceremony. We wrote letters to each other for our first anniversary to open and enjoy a bottle of wine together.”
The couple chose a winter theme and incorporated charcoal gray and apple red into their reception décor.
Megan is a teacher in Baltimore County and Shawn is a police officer in Montgomery County. They currently reside in Baltimore.
