Bryan and Samantha met in 2010 through a mutual friend. “Our first few meetings were uneventful. I invited Bryan to my 20th birthday party and we continued to hang out and get to know each other, only to go our separate ways. We connected again in 2012, but it still wasn’t the right time for a relationship. Finally, in 2015 we reconnected again, became friends, roommates, and soulmates.”
In October of 2019 Bryan scheduled a surprise birthday trip but was keeping the main event a secret. “A few days before the trip, I learned that I was booked for a flight to Chicago, but I had no idea why. We flew to Chicago where Bryan had rented an RV for us to drive to the 2020 World Championship Punkin Chunkin, an event we both loved. We enjoyed watching pumpkins fly through the sky and reminiscing about our past Punkin Chunkin experiences. As the event wound down, Bryan said we hadn’t taken any pictures together and that we should ask someone for a picture of us. I was bundled up in multiple layers and blankets, and I said we’d just get a photo later. Much to my confusion and surprise, Bryan had already recruited someone to take our photo and was insistent about pulling me out of my chair. As I was reaching out to hug Bryan, I found that he was down on one knee. I was so shocked that I forgot to say ‘yes’.”
Samantha and Bryan had a February 2020 wedding inside the lodge of Mountain Memories at Thorpewood. “The Thorpewood property was beautiful. It offered several different locations all with their own natural beauty.”
After a ceremony and photos, the couple had a dinner reception at Brewer’s Alley in downtown Frederick. “We loved the mix of venues between the mountain beauty of Thorpewood and then the upbeat and more urban setting downtown.”
Samantha is an early education teacher in Baltimore City and Bryan is an engineer. They currently reside in Middle River, Maryland.
