When Katrina moved to New York City she decided to join Bumble, a dating app, to meet new people. And there she met Michael. “We spent our first date together playing games at Dave and Busters, meeting dogs, eating NY’s infamous pizza , and dancing in Penn Station.”
At a birthday celebration for Katrina in November of last year, Michael surprised Katrina with having their dog, Maui, bring a basket full of flowers and the surprise ring to her in front of loved ones as he proposed.
140 guests were in attendance for their outdoor September wedding at Holly Hills Country Club including eight bridesmaids, eight groomsmen and their three beloved dogs. “Our wedding ceremony was exactly how we wanted it to be- short, sweet, but so meaningful. The weather was absolutely perfect and it was a Christian-based ceremony.”
The couple also held a tea ceremony. “We loved participating in the ancient traditional tea ceremony as a part of the Chinese-Indonesian culture, respecting our elders and bringing both families together in unity.”
The couple chose a color palette of Champagne, rose, gold and burgundy for their decor. “The entire time it felt like everyone was just very joyful and it was so romantic. From the perfect sunset to the packed dance floor all night long, ending with lit sparklers, we could not have asked for a more dream wedding.”
Katrina is a Registered Nurse, Director of Medical Support for an urgent care center and Michael Kelly is a Certified Professional Dog trainer & behaviorist. They currently reside in Germantown.
