Karen and Stephen met in 2017 through friends while Karen was attending Hood College. “We went to the movies with our friends and we realized we wanted to keep seeing each other without them. Stephen lived in Pennsylvania and I lived in Frederick but we always made sure to make the drive to see each other.”
The couple got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2019. “We were at my home preparing for Christmas and he asked me to go on a walk at Culler Lake. We were walking around and no one was around. He got on one knee and proposed. I said yes immediately, but I had to remind him that he needed to give me the ring.”
Twenty-five guests, including an eight-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their April 2021 nuptials at St. John’s Catholic Church. “The church is beautiful. The ceremony was simple and quick. Stephen and I cried a couple of times- we were just so excited. Our favorite part was when I walked down the aisle and we saw each other for the first time. We made sure not to see each other until the ceremony. We both were tearing up and it was just very special.”
After the ceremony and before the reception, Karen and Stephen took a long drive around downtown Frederick to enjoy their first moments as husband and wife. “It was just the two of us, and it was so special. It was just what we needed to enjoy our time before continuing with the celebration.”
The couple chose dusty rose, ivory, and sage green as their wedding decor colors. The reception was held at their home in Frederick. “Covid affected our wedding by limiting the number of people we could have with us. We would have loved to have more of our family there to celebrate with us.”
Karen is a computer developer in Germantown and Stephen is Range Officer at the Machine Gun Nest in Frederick. They currently reside in Frederick.
