With heartfelt pride, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Redmond, Jr. announce their parents’ 75th wedding anniversary.
After serving in the US Navy, Chester returned to his hometown of Frederick, MD. Shortly afterward, Chester spotted Nellie “Dolly” (Summers) while she was working at Kresge’s Dime Store in downtown Frederick, and he knew that was the woman he would marry. Chester proudly tells everyone that he “found his baby in the 5 and Dime!” They were married soon after at the Evangelical Lutheran Church on Church Street on February 15, 1947.
Over their 75 years together, Chester and Nellie welcomed into their lives 4 children: Linda (Dennis) Jenkins, Mark (Debbie) Redmond, Trudy (Robert) Roelke, and Lori (Pete) Cage, along with 8 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren who all remain close. They raised their family in the Methodist faith at Mt. Carmel UMC where they continue their fellowship after nearly 70 years.
Chester and Nellie are grateful to live independently in the home they built together more than 60 years ago. In warmer weather, they enjoy sharing their front porch with all who stop by to visit.
The family is looking forward to holding a celebration later in the year.
