Ashley and Luis met in 2017 at a Safeway grocery store. “I had been out with friends so I looked particularly cute. He complimented my outfit and introduced himself like a gentleman. He texted me that evening to see if I got home safely. I thought it was sweet. We went out on a date a few days later and had a great time and have been together ever since.”
Luis proposed on New Year’s Eve in 2019. “I proposed to her after the New Year’s countdown. We were out with friends and when we left I asked if we could stop by the Safeway we met at because I, ‘wanted to grab food for breakfast.’ It was closed but I asked her to get out of the car anyway. The moon was out, the world was quiet. It was perfect.”
Ten guests were in attendance for their April 2021 wedding at Milton Ridge. “We wanted something beautiful but intimate. The sweet little nondenominational chapel was exactly what we were looking for. We had a small in-person guest count and about 80 people on Zoom.”
“Our wedding party was Luis’ best man and friend of 20 plus years and my maid of honor was a friend of 25 plus years. I made the boutonnieres and the bouquets. My mom passed when I was 12 so I had her charm bracelet wrapped in my bouquet to have her with me.”
Luis is a Visitor Service Assistance at a local museum and Ashley is a Spiritual Wellness Practitioner. They currently reside in Silver Spring, Maryland.
