Natalie and David met at Hood College. “We had seen each other on campus, at soccer games and during weight training class, but never really talked until the school’s end of the year outdoor festival, May Madness. During the festival, our first spark came when I promised to get us onto the roof of the science building. The attempt failed, but our new found connection had been lit. We never left each other that entire day.”
David planned the perfect proposal. “I incorporated our love of nature by booking a cabin at Shenandoah National Park for the 4th of July weekend. After a long drive, we began our hike up Old Rag Mountain. Near the peak, I set up my camera and jumped out onto a rocky precipice overlooking the forest. I convinced her to jump out with me for the perfect picture. With the camera rolling and a valley of cold teal trees kissed by the early morning mist behind us, I pulled out the ring. I said, ‘Will you marry me?’ Silence. Having hiked 4 hours and our hearts racing, it took a moment, so I asked again. ‘Yes,’ she said with a tear and a smile. We didn’t look pretty having hiked for hours, but it was true and the moment pure.”
150 guests were in attendance for their March outdoor ceremony at Musket Ridge, including six bridesmaids and six groomsmen. “Seeing David, he looked so handsome, happy, and proud up there, I was overwhelmed with love . I had my parents support on each side of me. I wanted to walk super slow and savor every minute. I couldn’t wait for the kiss at the end because I had been meaning to do it as soon as I saw him.”
The couple chose a color palette of blues and shades of pink. “We wanted our wedding to be a romantic morning countryside party.”
Natalie is a Digital Project Coordinator at a2z Inc. and David is a PhD Immunology Graduate Student at UMD medical. They currently reside in Catonsville.
