Jenna and Jason met in Jacksonville, Florida, where they both lives at the time, through Match.com. Jason moved up to DC for his new job with Restoration City Church and surprised Jenna on a weekend day with a proposal. He arranged with Jenna’s best girlfriends to have her out of the house for a few hours, then surprised her when she returned home as he met her in the foyer and dropped to one knee. He had also arranged a secret engagement party at Jenna’s parent’s house. All of the couple’s family and friends were there to surprise Jenna and celebrate the engagement.
75 guests were in attendance for their outdoor ceremony in April at Mountain Memories at ThorpeWood, including four bridesmaids and five groomsmen. “We read our own vows and tied a unity braid signifying our relationship to each other and also to God, who is the head of our relationship. We cut the ceremony short due to how cold it was, the groom was shivering violently!”
The couple chose a color palette of gray and yellow for their decor. When asked why they chose their venue, Jenna shared that once they say it in person, it was an easy decision. “We love the outdoors and are more small town people than city, so we knew we wanted to get away from the DC area. We looked around online for something outside the city and found ThorpeWood. Perfect woodsy and lodge feeling, very homey and warm and just perfect for our personalities.”
Jenna is an Environmental Program Director at the Washington Navy Yard. Jason is the Creative Director for Restoration City Church. They currently reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
