Malore and Shiv were married on their 10 year dating anniversary. The two met as undergraduates in Mather Dining Hall at Harvard College and started dating in October 2007. “We were in the same organic chemistry class, and the following semester became lab partners. We actually spent our first Valentine’s Day in the chemistry lab,” shared Shiv.
The two said they knew right away that they would be spending their lives together, though decided to wait to get engaged until they would be living in the same place. For several years their relationship was long distance while Malorie was in Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship, then attending different medical schools. The proposal story involved a surprise plane with a banner and a capella group singing “Marry You” by Bruno Mars on the on Harvard’s Campus.
125 guests were in attendance for their outdoor ceremony at Liberty Mountain Boulder Ridge Lodge, including a 12 member bridal party. “We had a multicultural and packed wedding ceremony. The first half hour was a traditional Christian ceremony officiated by a groomsman and best friend from middle school. Then we changed and did a 1-hour traditional Hindu ceremony in the same location.”
Malorie and Shiv chose a fall color theme to match their October wedding date. The couple also had a candy table and photo booth for guests. Surprise fireworks at the end of their reception capped off the night.
Malorie is an OB/GYN resident physician at Johns Hopkins. Shiv is co-founder and CEO of a health education technology company. They currently live in Baltimore.
