When Austin proposed at a church overlooking Harpers Ferry in West Virginia, the couple knew they would have two weddings- one in Thailand and one in Frederick. “The month before our Frederick wedding we had a ceremony in Thailand, where Bianca’s parents live.”
With 200 guests in attendance, Bianca surprised her waiting groom by singing as she walked down the aisle. The couple also elected to have a foot washing ceremony, a biblical practice symbolic of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples, showing vulnerability and service to one another. Two of the bride’s cousins sang during the service. Six bridesmaids and six groomsmen made up the bridal party.
After the ceremony, the couple changed into traditional Indian garments, to honor Bianca’s heritage. Austin wore a men’s kurta, a long tunic, worn pants. Bianca wore a ghagra choli, an embroidered and beaded long skirt, that she designed herself. Many of the women in in the bride’s family wore colorful sarees.
A color palette of navy, burgundy and champagne helped to create the rustic feel the couple wanted at their reception. When asked why they chose their wedding venue, Austin shared, “It’s our home church and we have such great relationships with our friends and pastor there. It’s home.”
Bianca works in the credentialing department of a hospital, and Austin is in the construction industry. They currently reside in Frederick.
