Renee had recently started working at The Jefferson School, a residential facility and school for youths with behavioral and mental issues. Christopher had been working there for a year or so. The couple met when Renee walked on the unit where Christopher was the lead staff. Working in such a high-stress environment emphasizes trust and teamwork. The rest was history.
On December 25, 2017, Christopher proposed to Renee. The day started at home. Christopher was very adamant on opening Christmas gifts at his parent’s house (because this is what we have always done) and Renee was somewhat annoyed, seeing as how it was our first Christmas in our new home. It was a rather windy morning and while walking to the car, all the gifts blew out of Christopher’s hands (you will know why later). We finally made it to Christopher’s parents’, where we had breakfast. Christopher’s dad, Joe is recording (like he always does) while we opened our gifts. We saved our gifts to each other until the very end. Renee proceeded to her gifts from Christopher. There was a total of 4 boxes, all different sizes. Three out of the four boxes were filled with tissue paper and a drawing of toad from Mario, stating “Your gift is in another package.” Renee finally opened the fourth box, which enclosed a small box and she screamed at Christopher, “You finally got me earrings,” without opening the box. Renee has been asking for earrings for the past three Christmas. Renee finally opened the box and there she saw the most perfect, solitaire ring and Christopher says in the calmest voice, “Will you marry me?” Renee was beyond shocked and immediately hugged Christopher and everyone cheered in excitement. Renee immediately video chat her mother and aunt to share the wonderful news.
